Using the reseller account in cPanel should it be possible to backup a database belonging to a different user?

The issue I am having is that I login as reseller, switch to a different account using the drop down list, then select backup and finally the database I want, but the result is always a 1kb empty database dump.

This was working fine on my previous host but my current host tells me that it has been changed and only worked on previous versions of cPanel (seems strange since I was on version 11 at both). I can login in using the different account credentials (not reseller) and the backup function then works properly but its a pain to keep changing accounts to do backups.

I'm not sure if cPanel supports this anymore, but you should give it a try:

Thanks for the reply SNC-Zach. As I said it is possible for me to backup the databases by logging into each account directly and I don't really want to use any extra third party software at the moment.

My main inquiry is should I be able to backup the databases of accounts under my reseller login directly through cPanel or have they changed something to prevent this? The option seems to be there but the result is a 1kb empty db dump.

You can take the ftp backup from cpanel backup wizard. Change the theme as x3.

Hope this would help you.

Unfortunately, this is a known issue with Cpanel 11 - it works with one host but not with another (different Cpanel builds).

I had to reconfigure the script I was making automatic daily backups.
