Just some Ideas,

1. Advertising, If I wanted to advertise on your board I would like to know how many visitors you have what area of the board they most frequent etc etc, so I suggest you put stats in the advertising sections.

2. Board, I would put a message board on the site, so people could discuss their exp. with different hosts

Other than that your site looks very clean and easy to nav...

I agree with Charels in regards to the statistics of your site. I have visited most of the hosting portal type sites in regards to advertising with them. I would say about 10% actually posted numbers in their traffic section as to what their traffic was. To me as an advertiser, that is the most important thing. Unless I am paying CPM I want to know just how many different possible customers are going to see my ad each month.

Good luck Lonny and I hope your site suceeds.

I was wondering about his advertising rates also.

Never got a straight answer, and also didn't want to show me his statistics now..

I'm not really interested in advertising now, especially on a site that doesn't get much traffic, anyway :)

Most of the directories allow customer to review their host. And I beleive you will too. But make sure you give fare chance to clear their image against any bad reveiew.

Usually people don't bother to share their good experiences but don't miss to share the bad ones. There could be several reason for the bad experience. Some times it is a falut of customer, which is never admitted. As a result host is badly reviewed every where.

Another good example - we hosted an account who spammed using our mail server, ignored our warning. Finally we have to stop his account permanently. Later we got a charge back on his credit card payment and bad reviews from him almost at every hosting directories. Hostsearch.com did consider our situation and remove the review placed by that particular person. But still we are hoping for the same from many other directory.

Bottomline, it should be fair deal.

Well, first of all I would like to thank you all for the comments, keep posting, everything is truely appreciated, second of all, we started our site last week, and we're getting some traffic already, and we're about to get listed on Yahoo! and Looksmart...

As far as advertising is concerned, I got a request from many companies to advertise on our site, and for those who pre-ordered I gave them a free advertising period, we're also working on a statistics system to make your life easier.

And as a reply to mkaufman I replied your letter only after a few minutes that we received it, it's ok if you are not interested in advertising, I hope you'll be able to benefit from our site with the free listing options.

Thank you all so much for these posts, keep thinking...

Thanks a lot!

Lonny,

Haven't checked back in a while, but did you add that 'edit' button to the control panel? It would make it a lot easier for hosts to edit their plans and features through an edit rather than having to rebuilt a whole plan from scratch.

I have to say it's one of the better looking host directories I've seen so far. :)
