Ok, I've been lurking on this website for about a day and have been looking at threads pertaining to hosts.

Little info:
The company is a woodturning company, we make turned products such as porch posts, newel posts, balusters, etc... The webpage right now is about 1mb. I haven't added the full content yet such as pictures and text to their respective product pages. Its gonna have a mailing list and comments questions section that requires ssi and cgi-bin. I'd like access to the server logs for stats but I can use ssi for that or if the hosting has one already thats great. We are probally gonna start off slow around 100 hits a month and then take off to about 1000-2000 or more. The reason it is going to take off is once we build a bigger inventory I will be going to builder trade shows and giving away freebies with our website/logo on it. The total size of the site won't really exceed 20mb but it would be nice to have the extra space to about 50mb or so.

What I would like in a Host:
24/7 tech support or close to it
fast responding tech support meaning within an hour
telephone contact if possible
server located in USA
20mb-50mb of space
probally gonna need 15gb-30gb of bandwidth
ssi
cgi-bin
5 email accounts
perhaps a control panel
uptime 99 percent of the time

What I've looked at:
alwayswebhosting.com
hostrocket.com (not too sure about this one, seems like adopting a 5 yr old pitbull with 5 little kids in the house, you don't know whats gonna happen)
readyhosting.com
bluedomino.com
apricothosting.com

I'm looking to spend around 12 dollars a month. If traffic does get too high and consumes bandwidth I will work out a deal with the host to put a banner on my site to advertise my hoster. (consumes bandwidth means go over agreed limit)

If any of you know of a good company that does offer plans such as the sites mentioned above please reply. Also if any of you have used the ones mentioned above *EXCEPT HR* please give your input.

Also is there a website out there that does allow your traffic to grow without cutting off your site or shutting it down before forcing you to upgrade your account taht is along my lines of what I'm looking for. I've heard of places doing this in the past like HR.

And lastly what plan do you have and how much do you pay a month.

I'm not sure why your so against HostRocket, they do provide a great service and if you ever have a problem its pretty easy to get in touch with the owner (Brendan) and he usually sorts everything out pretty quick. I'd at least listen to what people have to say about the company before you make up your decision:)

actually I did read this thread http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=50359&highlight=Host+Rocket

It all seems like a good company till you hit the second page and on. Granted they might be a good company but I go on what their users say not what the president says because the users are the ones getting the service not the president. In the tech industry everything goes by word of mouth and people talk, the guy asked aobut the site from the users not the company people which I am afraid to say are biased, sorry brendan....... you might have a good company but there are still marks against them and because of those few people who did get poor service and or lack of service they have lost business from me. In this industry you need to survive and having a hosting company that preforms like the people in that thread described is not my idea of trying to survive cause in the end i'll be left behind.

It might help if you post this in the "Web Hosting Requests" forum. We (the web hosts here) cannot respond to web hosting requests unless the are posted in that forum according to the rules of this forum.

Thanks - Brian

thomor25, 12 bucks for 15-30gigs transfer is going to buy you a plan with a host that willl be out of business in a few months.

thomor25, try www.insiderhosting.com They have a range of plans and maybe something in your price range. Remember, you get what you pay for, so I totally agree with NexDog on that point!

My apologies, I thought we were in requests - message edited.

NexDog is right though, it's very hard to offer a package with those stats at that price. Some will but just be careful who you select and really make sure your site uses that amount of bandwidth. If it isn't then why not sign up for a smaller account, you can always upgrade.

Don't waste your time with either hosts that are too cheap or HostRocket. You'll just be host shopping again in no time.

My four month experience with RH was spent mostly listening to promises that the cgi would be fixed. I can't currently imagine any (paid) host suggesting people to "move to php based applications" while they resolve their issues, let alone putting any new signups on the server without the cgi working. I should have known they must not be able to fix it, when I saw they were telling people to use php apps.
Same old crap a year and a half later, defending their poor service.
I wish they would have had the flash site before, because I wouldn't have signed up with them. If you are trying to sell me something, you better cut to the chase fast, and not make me wait for your stupid idea of a flashy presentation.

I've used ReadyHosting before and ran from it as fast I could.

I've used AlwaysWebHosting since April of this year and have been very satisfied so far.
