These guys scammed $60 from me. I had a $57 windows plan with them for almost a year. I canceled my subscription because I decided to switch hosts. I canceled a few days after I paid and requested that they cancel it after the month was due. They shut off my account that day. I emailed them and asked to either be refunded or have the account turned back on. They simply replied back with 2 obscure lines from their TOS saying all account deletions are permanent and no paypal refunds are given.. great.. It's funny how they're so quick to shut off your account yet it takes nearly 2 days (one time 4 days) for support requests

While it does seem irresponsible for them to be so quick with shutting off your account with not confirming that it would be canceled immediately even though you requested for it to be canceled at the end of your term, there might be more to this story. Does their cancellation policy state that you can opt to send in a cancellation request that won't be processed until after your term expires?

Well "legally" they can do it, but you'd think "morally", a company would cut you some slack and either re-activate the service or refund the money for that month, since I only got a fraction of what I paid for.

Its understandable and bad business ethics. You also need to realize that they have to pay their bills and if its past the cancel deadline you should be charged.

I don't think you understand. It wasn't past the cancel deadline. I'll try to give you a better picture:
Paid $60 oct 1st
Canceled subscription oct 3rd
Noticed site was down and asked to be re-activated (or created new again) or refunded money

I think Matt misunderstood the situation.
You should have mentioned in the cancellation request that you want to keep your account active until the end of billing cycle.

Actually, legally, I believe they cannot do it. If you have paid for a service up to time X, and you send your notice before then and they shut you off, that is not legal. Regardless of what they put in their TOS. Just because it is in the TOS, it won't necessarily make it legal.

I remember a discussion on WHT before in which a case was won against a company because they did the same thing..

He did state in the first post that he requested the account be canceled after the end of the term.

From their TOS :

Customers may voluntarily cancel their account at any time, for any reason or for no reason, by filling out the “Cancellation Request Form” which is provided on the Reseller Zoom Web site. You can find the “Cancellation Request Form” at the following Web page:

http://www.resellerzoom.com/forms/cancellation.php

Once a Customer has cancelled their account before the renewal date, no more charges will be billed to the account. Cancellations on or after renewal will be charged renewal fees.

Paypal paying customers cancelling their paypal subscription payment does not warrant cancellation of service. All cancellations must go through the cancellation form. Customer can terminate their account for any reason or for no reason. However, Customer understands and agrees that Reseller Zoom does not provide pro-rated or any other kinds of refunds on cancellations. All fees Customer has paid shall be nonrefundable.

From the page which contains the cancellation form :

Fill out the form completely to cancel your account. All cancellation requests will be processed within 5 days. Do not submit cancellation until you are ready to cancel your account. We will not be able to restore your account once cancelled.

As I understand, if they receive an account cancellation request they just delete the account. Seems reasonable to me. Although you had sent en email to their billing department, it does not mean they will go through all your mails and see your instructions... they received the request and just deleted it.

As I can see, this is what happened... (I do not agree though with this, but you should cancel when you were ready).

Deppends on the country.

Distance Selling regulations gives you 7days to cancel, for any reason in the UK.

TI canceled a few days after I paid and requested that they cancel it after the month was due. They shut off my account that day.

He request to cancel the account AFTER THE MONTH WAS DUE...
... And the actual month was pay.

It's easy, if ResellerZoom only can cancel "inmediately" an account and he's requesting ANOTHER THING (after a month)... and ResellerZoom have to said.. "Sorry, We cannot wait to cancel your account, send us a cancellation email after a month", And don't cancel it... because in their TOS the said that only cancel accounts inmediately.

He's not requesting to cancel his account NOW... I think g4g4 is right.

They simply replied back with 2 obscure lines from their TOS saying all account deletions are permanent and no paypal refunds are given..That would be a TOS you agreed to. And now RZ "scammed" you.

I canceled a few days after I paid and requested that they cancel it after the month was due. Then they could have not canceled your account, and explain that you must fill out the cancellation form when you've decided you had no need for the account anymore. Then again, you did request a cancellation. Not acting upon your request could have led to other issues.

Hi,

Please provide the cancellation ticket number so I can review it. If you did indeed mention in the cancellation ticket you would like to cancel it when the term ends I will have your payment refunded and apologize for the error. We have had customers ask us to wait until the end of the term and we just put the ticket on hold.

this thread is crap....resellerzoom scammed by butt lol.

you wanted the account stopped so they only did what you requested, then you said you thought they might have cut some slack before deleting you....have you any idea how many clients they have....and what would make you special.

i've been with them 2 years and never had 1 problem with them ever.

trying to cause holy murder for $57 lol....it's hardly enough to buy a round of beers and a pizza :)

Wow, 57$ is a lot of money for some people, many people do not have that sum.

But regardless to the actual price, if the client paid for the month you can't just cancel it, unless he specifically asks for it to be terminated "now".

I would normally cancel it on the due date.

I think this is just one part of the story..(no offence intended to any1)
We need to know what actually happened and so we need resellerzoom to give their side of the story..
i dont think a host of that kind would give such a reply.
By the way...please post the domain hosted with them and some proof of their reply.

wow you all scaring me as i'm having a reselliing account in RZ too.
I believe in your case it's language misunderstanding, word cancel could mean cancel after the contract end OR delete it NOW.
