Recently I was in a partnership (sharing a dedicated server) with one of my contacts. Becasue i don't use credit cards my partner payed with his cc and i reimbursed him by money order.

After the server was paid for he clocked a few thousand dollars worth of overage, charged back is credit card claiming he did not receive the services paid for and then he proceeded to disappear off the face of the earth.

how could either I or my host go about finding this guy and reclaiming the money that is owed? I hear that there are a few other online businesses that he pulled the same trick with.

BTW This guy is not smart.

Thanks

Posting a more complete version of the story may help us to help you.

How did you meet him? What kind of overage? What is the status of your server, etc...

I assume that if you were partners with someone you have their name, address, phone number, social security number, etc. etc. etc. So I'm not sure what you're asking here.

Allright, let's look at your post:

i reimbursed him by money order

where did you send the money order to? Might be where lives/works?

my partner payed with his cc

well, shouldn't you have his address or at least a phone #?

If you don't, well, then I think the dude is smarter than you

Heh, well you could have just edited your post before last. If you sent a money order, you have to have some information of some sort where you can reach this guy...
