View Full Version : Recommended web host ?
jldawson 08-01-2002, 12:23 AM Hi,
looking for some specific features-
Linux/Unix with shell access
at least 200mb storage
at least 20gb transfer per month
Support for multiple domains on one acct
responsive support
CGI access (not just in cgi-bin) w/ Python
Server side includes
access to logs
anonymous ftp
$20 at most per month
That's all I can think of, and all that's required. any recommendations?
Thanks in advance
(soon to be ex-Aletia user)
Aussie Bob 08-01-2002, 01:03 AM mods might want to move this one over to the ad forum.
SoftWareRevue 08-01-2002, 01:16 AM To me that would depend on the thread starters definition of "recommend."
Seeings how the thread starts with, "Recommended web host ?"
And ends with, "any recommendations?"
Of course, if he 'wants' offers from hosts, then . . . . well . . . . yeh.
And, to answer the question, I don't know of anyone that offers what you're looking for at that price that I have any experience with.

Ohhh :o I am tired. It was a reflex post. Must get sleep....
TheMMIz 08-01-2002, 02:20 AM HostCulture.com has a plan where they offer 500 MB of space and 20 GB of bandwidth for $20.00. If I didnt already have five hosts I would be with them, might want to try them out, they use quality machines and bandwidth.
I know they are in one of the best datacenters too, and the owner has been in the webhosting business for a long while. They aren't one of those companies that went out and bought a $99 server and now consider themselves a webhost. They also use cPanel which is my personal favorite control panel.
Hope Ive helped a bit, and Good luck!

Reptilian Feline 08-01-2002, 03:29 AM I'm going to host my site at Infodoma.com, and they are very nice and easy to get hold of. They can customise plans as well, so you can get what you need. I don't know if they have Python, but you can ask that in their pre-sale forum.
Just tell them Reptilian Feline sent you. :)

tensixteen64 08-01-2002, 08:46 AM I cannot say enough good things about www.insiderhosting.com They have excellent customer support and I haven't been down at all since hosting with them in March. I jumped the Aletia ship as well. So glad I did too! :)

jldawson 08-01-2002, 09:11 AM Hey, thanks everyone for the responses. I have decided to go with frontdrive.com as they have some really good rates and I couldnt find anything negative about them in my searches. Will let you know if it turns out to be a mistake:)
