Is there any nice yet free stats/visitor tracking script in php/mysql? One of our clients needs this.

Any recommendations please?

Try searching on HotScripts (http://hotscripts.com)

You could also use Google Analytics - http://www.google.com/analytics/

http://www.phpmyvisites.us/ is one of the best ive used and seen.

It features a "click heat" system to show where visitors click most. It has a bit too many statistic reports but that could be useful for some.

Google Analytics is free, cool and doesn't add any load on the server.

there are tons of php and mysql scripts - many ready to plug right in at www(dot)hotscripts(dot)com. You will have to navigate to the PHP section then to the web hosting section. There is an entire section under Scripts and Programs called "Web Traffic Analysis". I would give the URL but I am limited since this is a new account.

Try Statcounter.com. It is one of the most popular breed of web analytics software on the internet. They will help you track where the users are coming from, what keywords they have used in the search engines, how long they stayed on your site, physical location on the Google Map, what browser they are using, etc.

AwStats is not exactly a web analytics program but a log analyzer that extracts data from raw server logs and converts them into more meaningful reports that are pretty easy to understand.

I hope this helps you understand the difference. My opinion is to try out Statcounter. It is easy to use, easy to understand, and provides extremely useful information.

Good Luck,
