I have a domain that had it's IP changed about 2 weeks ago, all the other domains on that IP started working after about a day, well this one domain has 3 A records and 1 MX record all the records update except the www.domain.com A record, it worked for about a day then went back to the old IP. I'm getting really annoyed, my customer for that site is getting kinda annoyed, but they can still get mail and such as the A record for mail.domain.com and the MX record is working. That A record for www.domain.com just won't update, I've done ns lookups from all over the US and they still point to the old IP for that one A record.
anyone have a clue? I'm lost
this is on a RaQ4 if it makes any differance to you

I would contact the domain name register.
I had this happen to a customer once and the update corrupted the settings for the domain name.

Also ensure that for some reason there wasn't a nameserver registered for the www name. I have heard of this happening once with similar results. If you can pm me the domain name i can check some stuff out for you.
definately contact the registrar ... also post or pm me the domain name and I'll take a look at it as well.

I hope Sainthax will not mind my posting the results here so that others can learn from it. It appears the www.domainname.com was registered as a name server. Just stick this one in the back of your mind people....it comes up about once a month.....I remember it from last time someone asked.

I don't remember changing anything for that site so I didn't bother to look it up using anything other than tracert's and nslookup's
The site still works in some locations due to the amount of time that the ISP's cache their DNS lookups. so inorder to overwrite that IP address and DNS name I registered a new name server on the old IP as null.domainname.com if all goes well it should start working in a day or so.
my stupid mistake for the month
