When a customer registers a domain name how can they make that domain a name server? Like:

ns1.clientdomain.com
ns2.clientdomain.com

TIA

child nameservers in the normal instance of the domain. For me, resellerclub/directi is the better for domains with multiple nameservers.

Thanks!

So then, (I've got a VPS) and if the host name of the VPS is secure.mydomain.com,
in the child name server page at DirectI, I would enter "secure" for the host name and then the IP?

No secure is the host name.

You will enter NS1 then first IP & NS2 then second IP.

This will create your name servers, now to host your clients their domains will use ns1.mydomain.com & ns2.mydomain.com

//edit

and for the "actual name servers for the domain I want now to be a name server - what should be there?

Thanks vinsar -

It's confusing 'cause at the DirectI page it asks for host name. So what they really want is ns.* and the IP?

and your tag says "Your" still learning. Can't imagine what mine should say ;-)

You are welcome...

Learning is an ongoing process, we are learning new things every day.

See I just learned that DirectI had put in Host Name there, I never noticed it before its only after you mentioned. Creating Child Name Servers has been such a routine job.

I believe you can put anything there, even likes monster or evils

OMG!

I could just imagine a client having to enter nameservers like:

#@*!#.mynameserver.com

I guess I will need to mention that it's not acceptable with special characters ;) Otherwise you're free to create your name server, not limited into ns1, ns2
