View Full Version : Whmcs 3.4
PH-Kev 10-09-2007, 09:54 AM Anyone trying the new WHMCS 3.4 yet?
Just curious, it was only released like 6 hours ago but i was wondering if some die hard fans had maybe tried it out?
Waiting for the changed files only version as im fed up messing with the .tpl files, every time i do, i end up with a blank screen due to poor coding skills... oh well

PH-Kev 10-09-2007, 10:10 AM Thanks Slip7, found a bug already, nothing big, just a wee costmetic issue i think, has anyone upgraded yet? :)
The only thing i see useful is HyperVM which is why im a bit excitable lol
hpham 10-09-2007, 10:12 AM What is it? Can you share? Have you sent notice to the developer?
BlueHayes 10-09-2007, 10:33 AM :o I didn't realize they had released it!
Looking forward to trying it out :)
Nessy 10-09-2007, 10:37 AM i have already upgraded, just messing around looking at and testing the new features out.
Littleoak 10-14-2007, 08:39 PM I upgraded immediately. It was almost seamless. There have been no bugs yet.
arshem 10-14-2007, 08:48 PM I love 3.4 :D
Best system and version I've used so far, I love it.
Dan_EZPZ 10-15-2007, 12:55 PM I agree, some good improvements on the last version, and thats saying something!
GLucas 10-16-2007, 01:14 AM I just switched to it from CE. :)
PogiWeb 10-16-2007, 02:59 AM I am still looking into the HyperVM module.
cpanellover 10-16-2007, 04:27 AM hi,
Whmcs is a nice tool but in my opinion overprised and they are also charging for each and every addon module instead of giving some stuff for free to thank there customers for the big investment
AH-Tina 10-16-2007, 06:59 PM hi,

Are you kidding me???
The upgrade is nice. I can't get the hyperVM module to work, but its probably because I don't know what I'm doing. :P
I love the new Paypal Subscription integration. That is SUCH a welcomed improvement.

Hmm quite the opposite of how I feel, I've yet to pay for any addons, they have support out of the box for a slew of processors, control panels, and options, and I feel their pricing is right on the money for what they offer, not so cheap as to make you wonder how they stay in business, and not so expensive you can't afford it or feel like you aren't getting a decent deal purchasing it.
I've yet to upgrade to 3.4 but I like to give these things a week or two, let all the other folks do the initial testing, I'm gunshy about really new upgrades of any software I use.
PogiWeb 10-17-2007, 01:29 AM I'm with Tina and I contacted Matt yesterday about trying to figure the whole thing out. He informed me about updating his knowledge base so i'll have to take a look at it later.

It was nothing big, the new paypal subscription showed the "force subscription" tickbox twice, i dont know if it would have caused problems but it was fixed about 15 mins after reporting it, now thats commendable :D
hosteur 10-17-2007, 01:40 AM I had a issue when unzipping files with winzip, they recommand me to use winrar instead, look good now...

No not kidding and i whas refering to the owned licence prices only.I dislike monthly leases besides isn't WHMCS encoded with either ioncube or zend ? such applications always try to send email "behind your back" to the software publisher.I've caught an encoded application once that whas sending email to the script author everytime you installed it that's just a violation of the privacy law.Anyway WHMCS is still the best package availible for it's kind no doubts about that
oooh one more thing ...
before i start a war here i am not accusing WHMCS of anything "bad"
viratshah 10-17-2007, 01:59 PM it has a few bugs...
i'll wait for a few months before getting this version

What bugs? Are you actually using or planning to use it?
I ask because I just read your comment in another thread where you said it was "for kiddie hosts".
sending email to the script author everytime you installed it that's just a violation of the privacy law
Just how many times were you installing this one script? ;)

Really, it does? Care to share with us the actual law that says it's illegal for this to happen? I'd really like to see this "law".
If your license/TOS/agreement that you agreed to before purchasing and or downloading the software says they'll do it, it's perfectly legal.

Saying this without giving some information to go along with it is pretty lame. What bugs? I'm not saying it doesn't have them, heck I haven't installed it yet just to let other users find those bugs, I want to know what bugs you mean so I can avoid them myself, but you don't give any real info just 'it has bugs', every decent piece of software ever has bugs, this is a given, but what bugs do you MEAN? Are they serious? annoying? minor? Don't just say it has bugs, details man, details.

Lol. I was ripped off by a car dealership once. Does that mean all car dealerships are crooks?
Just because software is encrypted does not mean the developer is hiding anything. Unless you have evidence to prove otherwise, I would say it simply means the developer cares about his investment and prefers not to have people steal his work.
If a script "calls home" with email or whatever, then that is perfectly fine if you agreed to it when you "signed" the terms of use by downloading, installing, and using the software. Even if the TOS or EULA does not specifically mention this, it's still not illegal.
before i start a war here i am not accusing WHMCS of anything "bad" Then you may want to think twice before using words like, "such applications always try ...". Your one experience, mentioned in this thread about WHMCS, definately seems to imply you believe WHMCS is doing something "bad". Otherwise, you would not have posted it.

He hasn't mentioned any experience of WHMCS. He has made a generic statement about encoded applications "always" doing things behind a users back, which is clearly wrong as others have pointed out in the thread already.
Matt
DSD-Dan 10-20-2007, 06:41 AM I'm doing all my upgrading today, all cPanel servers to apache 2.2, whmcs etc.
Looks good Matt, can't wait to get HyperVM automation working, been waiting on that for a while now!
hosteur 10-20-2007, 06:47 AM I'm awaiting the IDN support from WHMCS... Thanks.
