They are picky on who they set up but check them out and they may have what you need? Corey Bryant 10-10-2007, 04:56 PM Well the gateway (LinkPoint, Payflow, Authorize.net/Cybersource, etc) is probably going to charge you a monthly fee. Some gateways might give you some free transactions a month or some might not charge you at all for transactions. But the companies you mentioned are usually considered Internet Payment Service Provider (IPSP). If you are in the United States, you NAICS should be 7372 and most providers will accept that. If you have a membership to Costco or Sam's - check out what they have to offer cdgcommerce 10-15-2007, 07:40 PM There are definitely options that give you little or absolutely no setup, monthly or transaction fees on the gateway side available. On the merchant account side, free setups are definitely readily available. You can also find solutions without early termination fees or annual fees but be sure to ask about this because many times you will find such fees listed on the pricing page but the marketing pages might not mention them. You will also want to inquire as to what the statement or service costs are on a monthly basis. For instance, there are companies that list no monthly minimums or no statement fees - but then there is a monthly cost component on another part of the price list. I have even seen "free gateway" offers that are attached to $25/month statement fees and the like. (In essence, it just ends up being a shell game, $X is taken out of one line item and stuck in another) Usually, you will be looking at $10/month as a bare minimum cost for a direct merchant account. The only options that I have ever seen that provide a direct merchant account without any monthly cost have higher % fees which ultimately work against you as you grow. And naturally - always check out references and the company you are considering to see if merchants are happy with the level of service provided. There are a lot of value-adds available these days that a merchant processor can offer such as fraud scrubbing technologies, Verified by Visa/MasterCard SecureCode so it never hurts to ask what is included in each package and what makes it different from everyone else. Best of luck with your search! |
