I have seen quite a lot of nocster complaints lately,

I think the reason why there are so many problems is because they charge too cheap and make very little money off of each server.

And when they make very little money off of that venture, they hire less tech guys, ****tier networks, less quaility hardware etc.. etc..

Sort of like selling a $5 hosting package and you don't really care about the client when they are only worth $5, so the techs are like "I spend $5 at mcdonalds at lunch everyday, why would I answer 30 emails from this cheapo client who pays $5 a month, thats less the mininum wage!"

I'm thinking BurstNET makes around $15-20 max on each server, $25 the maximum.

Guess BurstNET forgot that money is a motiviation to good service, and since nocster is making slim to none, service is ****ty :)

Just my opinion!

mahinder,

what is your caculations?

$30-35 a month?
They are only charging $99 a month, thats not a lot to work with espically when they have to buy $400 in equipment for each box.

burstnet have there own datacenter, hence they don't have to pay for space. Now assuming they have plenty of space already available in there data center which is going to not used otherwise, they can keep the boxes over there. So i assume marginal cost for space is zero for them accept power.

They charge high setup fees and cover 70% of box value.

so they only need to earn $100-$200 max for box value. consider box life for 18 months it cost them less then $10 / month for a box.

Also if there are any cancellations they will earn double setup fees ;) :D

Now bandwidth, which they have plenty due to additional backup lines and they also have low cost cogent.

Average dedicated box uses much less bandwidth, i assume it to be around 50 gigs which should cost them around $10-$15 if lines are fully utilized.

so i guess they streat away make more then $50-$60 on each box.

Also you haven't considered addons income, for example ip addresses they sale for $5 per 10 ips and i bet you will use lots of ips. In reality IPs doesn't cost that much.

After all this they still own your box :stickout remember you rent it from them and don't own it.

ofcourse, if they sell so cheap they intend on bulk selling and since they are already hosting lots of servers, hosting some additional servers will not cost them initially with regards to labour and sysadmin etc.

Just my $0.02, i am sure, expert gurus are here which can calculate more better then me :D

Mahinder has a good grasp on our NOCSTER product line.
Also, ask around, there are not many compaints about the service/support NOCSTER clients have been receiving. Complaints have been about network issues primarily...of which we are working on correcting for good.

We are hiring additional Cisco Certified network admins to handle the router issues...but finding qualified individuals, that we would trust with our network, and thatt have experience with the high-end 12000 series routers...well...it's not that easy! We are aware of the problems, and are working on fixing this issue. As far as we are concerned, the router issues are the only thing tarring the NOCSTER image...support management, server uptime...have all been excellent. A few minor setup delays, but those are due mostly to getting hardware in stock fast enough, rather than physical setup delays. Also, we are in the middle of integrating Playpus Billing, so our billing dept will be running much smoother soon!

It would probably help if you had a redunant mesh (as no network admin is perfect) and a redunant setup helps prevent network issues.
