View Full Version : who is your favorite resellerhosting provider, and why?
eming 10-03-2007, 09:07 AM As subject - we are looking into reseller hosting and would like your input on the perfect setup...
Who have you chosen as your reseller hosting provider, and why?
What is most important for you, and what package is ideal for you?
:)

dhcart 10-03-2007, 10:27 AM Our Hosting provider is Hostdime. We chose them. Because they provide more features (disk space/bandwith/rvskin) with unexpensive prices. They have their own data center. They can upgrade your account to another reseller plan, a VPS or a dedicated server by moving all of your data if you wish. Their support is fast(but some times can be too slow). The uptime generally is not under %99.5.
Farrukh 10-03-2007, 04:30 PM Hello
I am also looking into reseller plans.
ill look into Hostdime
ldcdc 10-03-2007, 04:45 PM Their support is fast(but some times can be too slow). That's all a bit too relative. What would be the average response time, and what would be a "too slow" occurrence, based on your experience?
Nnyan 10-03-2007, 04:55 PM eming,
That's a bit to vague as what may be perfect for me may not be for you. What are your requirements/needs/etc...?
I look for rock solid reputation (service and support), someone who has been around for at least a few years, is proactive about issues and communicates well. A "positive" attitude towards their customers.
When I look at accounts these things mean more to me then numbers (resources offered). Now I'm not saying that this should not be a criteria but for myself it's less important then those I mentioned. I would just rather have fewer resources and better service then the other way around.
Now I don't know or have experience with every great (let alone good) host out there (so this is by no means a complete and definitive list) these are on my recommend list:
Innohosting
Knownhost
Cartika
JauguarPC
Hostgator
Dathorn
Sonet7
Dotable
ResellerZoom
Budget Reseller
There are a few others that I'm currently evaluation (Hostnine) or will be in the near future.

Just to clarify for the readers here,
I assume you mean you are looking into offering reseller services,
ie you are researching what users like to be offered,
as you are considering expanding into that area.
dollah 10-03-2007, 08:43 PM Hello,
Jodohost.com get our vote here :)
Why ?
1. Superb 24/7 livesupport. Their livesupport is really online. You can just click the button and ask question :)
2. Great Network Uptime (99.941%)
http://www.hyperspin.com/publicreport/3983/6379/2/22180
3. Well documentation. You can go in into their website and read through the reseller guideline (step-by-step) reseller setup.
4. Update and announcement. Jodohost always always always inform us about operation events in their datacenter. Upgrade, update, patching etc.
Price maybe :p
We are using Jodohost since 2005. The uptime monitor starts at January 2006.
Thank you,
dhcart 10-04-2007, 06:03 AM That's all a bit too relative. What would be the average response time, and what would be a "too slow" occurrence, based on your experience?
We can receive a response within one hour and they fix the problems quickly. But if the message forward to other department(like Suspended Accounts) when it may be 24-48 hours. I know that is not a good thing. But We tryed many company for years and could not find better. Everyone's was some bad things.
ldcdc 10-04-2007, 06:46 AM Thank you dhcart for the details. I looks to me like their abuse department is not as fast as the support department.

Thanks Brian, and you are right. We are looking into putting the perfect reseller package together for our clients. We are not looking to buy a reseller package.
Others, thanks for your input, keep it coming ;)

Aorozco 10-04-2007, 10:24 AM One thing than cane be very useful for some of us, resellers, is a special package for static sites, let me explain. Many of my customers have tiny sites without MYSQL. Then they sometimes suffer for overload of busy sites in the same server using mysql. I have the idea of a special reseller type without mysql, designed for static sites.
And, other vote for jodohost here.
dhcart 10-04-2007, 10:46 AM eming; I think you are not a new and small company. If you provide the most wanted features for example Cpanel/RVSkin/Fantastico with cheap prices when your products will arouse interest at most people.

Interesting...so, this way you would have a reseller account on a server only running static sites?
Would you expect it to be cheaper - as it would be limited in functionality? Or would you expect to pay the same, knowing that it would be fast as nothing would be overloading the server?
Anyone else with the same request?
thanks for your input!
:)

Aorozco 10-04-2007, 12:00 PM I expect paid the same o some little minus. Same functionality of cpanel, but no mysql. I know go faster.
I want be a pilot member, if some of u do. 9 USD for a 1 gb space without mysql, but all antsiapm and mail features. If someone do later some similar, please PM me. I Have much interest in this
Aclaration, static is in the sense of NOT MYSQL BASED , PHP is itself Dynamic, use some little flat files sometimes, but is STATIC in the sense that not use MYSQL...
DAMN.. is a NMormal cpanel server WIthouut MYSQL, REALLY, not usen in never site of the whole server.

We have found that overloaded static flatfile databases are often behind high usage sites...I like your idea, but i think that it would be kept at static stuff only...
Aorozco 10-04-2007, 04:43 PM oh yes., As example my big flatfile is 20 Ks only.
httpsolution 10-04-2007, 07:56 PM licantropro: I would look into someone that does not allow overselling.
A well maintained fast server should be fast for both static and dynamic pages.

smartsoft 10-04-2007, 08:25 PM very cheap reseller hosting, vps, dedicated server.. datacenter in Texa SAVVIS DATA CENTER you can visit http://www.mysmarthosting.net

Pay your tech's well so they're happy
dollah 10-05-2007, 12:37 AM Hello,
Another thing that is important for reseller package. Have some grace period on the billing part.
Some company immediately suspend reseller account when reach the due. It would be nice if the provider can give 5 day grace or one week.
However, this is only my opinion.
Thank you,
hpham 10-06-2007, 08:07 AM I believe vendor will not suspend reseller, or even end-user, accounts if they keep good contact. However, it should not do frequently. We just got a reseller quit without paying us the last month. He's always late in payments, and whenever we suspend his account, he came back to beg us to re-open. The last time, he asked for a week payment late, and because he's with us more than 1 year, we agreed. Then he said he had trouble with card... then payment late in a month, and we recognized that he's moved to different vendor
All-in-one options -> domains, shared hosting. SSL, upgrades to vps or dedi and turnkey reselling and everything else i forgot... and the tricky part: ease of use... and one thing that is missing in general is good documentation. There is loads of documentation for everything - but most is poorly done.
As for which which reseller I find the best..? Let's hope it's you Ditlev in the near future.
ldcdc 10-06-2007, 03:53 PM I would look into someone that does not allow overselling.Forbidding resellers from overselling doesn't mean that the provider won't oversell, nor is it a guarantee of no overloading. If used unwisely, it is just a way to put more accounts per server/increase immediate profit. If used wisely, it is an approach that can give the provider more control over the long term stability of servers.
