I wouldn't think it fair to judge all ebay hosts as they're a single entity. I suppose there might be some decent ones.

That being said, at $50 per year, I'd consider such an account as little more than a shared hosting account with reselling capabilities, and not really a platform to start a new hosting company from.

Isnt it obvious?

If you think about it, a server costs $150/month.
To support all the sub accounts and all their sub accounts they will need quite alot of server power.

$150 * 12 = $1800

Divide that by $50's = 36 master resellers, Those 36 master resellers sell 30 reseller accounts.
Thats 1080 resellers on one server!

And this is before the host has made any profit from the server.

Just wish to add a single sentence. You will get for what you pay. So be careful if you are going to use it for some business purpose.

ldcdc is much nicer then I am. I have yet to see any ebay company that I would spend my money on. I think you need to do some more research and reading on these forums and you'll understand the cost dynamics of the biz and why $50year or even $100year is not very viable for a reseller account.

Fastest way to learn about these types of accounts is to sign up for one of these $50/year accounts and then come back here after a few months and let us know what you lessons you learned. Overall a cheap lesson to learn for $50. Or you can just avoid them and research what a solid reputable host charges for reasonable resources.

There's another scenario.
When they collect enough from those $50 accounts, they would run away instead of providing 1 year service.

In this industry, that is not always 100% accurate.

I agree with the above comments. I've been scammed before several times from companies offering those deals, which is why I decided to have my own servers ever since. I definitely wouldnt count on those businesses to be reliable.

I would add that a $150 /month server is super cheap. I wouldn't expect a server like that to even support 200 accounts, much less 1,080.

I dont think overseller is a good explanation for this but SUPER Overseller might get near it. I am bad at getting cheap things because I am cheap and regret it later, but I would never fall for a $50 a year reseller plan at like ~$4.10 a month. You will more then likely regret it. How much resources do you get though? Or are you just asking in general?

Right. I would say, look for a host with a decent pay structure rather looking for the cheapest. If you go through a couple of hosting provider sites, you will be able to see the cost structure.

All I can say is good luck with the eBay reseller packages, especially at that price!
