Greetings.

I currently have one site (URL1, in my signature). I'd like to set up second unrelated site (URL2) , and use a third for personal email (richard@URL3.com). As well, I'd like to have a handful of parked domains pointing to URL1 or URL2.

We can assume negligible traffic, well under .5 GB / month, for the whole shebang.

I'm looking for a host to accomplish the foregoing. Do I need a second (and or third) IP address to implement the above?

Or, is the IP address essentially like a pipe, and the traffic will get routed to the appropriate site (URLn) by my host (or by scripts that I implement)?

Any & all learned words or essential reading references welcome.

Cheers,

- Richard

You can host as many domains as you want all on the same one ip. This is called name based/shared ip hosting. This is the most common method. The visitor will not notice any difference based on the ip that it is on. Hosts have hundreds or even thousands of domains all on the same ip. You do not need separate ips for separate domains. You would only need separate ips for special requirements such as if you had an ssl on a domain.
