I am thinking of moving out from RS to Nocster cause too many problems at RS probaly due to my lack of knowledge. sorry for this. My bad.

I was chatting with Nocster guy named Jason, he said that their
managed dedicated server provide" full managed" service.
I asked "If I would like to patch some files, do you do that for me"
he said yes. Wow, I have to say, it is really great if it is true.

anyone got any ideas about this in terms of "full managed"...

Well, we haven't really needed to request much on the managed side. But, whenever we have, Nocster has done it.

Quite pleased with everything, myself. People around these parts get tired of me recommending Nocster. But, aside from some connectivity issues around the time they added the Cogent line, things have gone quite well. And I have no problems highly recommending them for your managed server needs.

I'll back SWR up. Other than a slightly frustrating period of connectivity issues, they've provided good service.

As for the managed part, I'm not exactly sure what they offer but I do know they send out notices every once in a while saying that they will upgrade your server if you want. Things like the latest PHP 4.2.2 upgrade. If you want a real answer to that, call em up and ask what their limits are.

After nearly two months, I've had a generally positive experience.

I have also had a positive experience with Nocster. They did have some network issues earlier this month but hopefully those are now resolved.

From all the horror stories I heard it is still better than RS.

You may want to search the forum's archive for past experience about nocster. Doing so should give you more information.

My experience with Nocster has been great...other than the connectivity issue a few weeks ago, it's been near-perfect.
I always recieve prompt, detailed replies to trouble tickets, and they have no problems with software installation/upgrade requests.
Whenever I've had a software request in the past, they've installed it for me without any issues...so I doubt that they'd charge you for a PHPA installation.
(But as DizixCom said, you may want to give them a call to make sure.)

And edude, I couldn't help but ask...do you have/have had a box with them?

Well, as I've mentioned quite a few times on here, Nocster has been great... there have been hiccups here and there (as with any webhost), but they always address the problems.

They also CONTACT YOU for an upgrade that they'll do for you! For instance, I got an e-mail a few days ago regarding the newest version of php ... and that they'll do it if I confirm... now, isn't that great?

Every request I've had so far has been addressed, and so, for a hosting idiot such as myself, Nocster is awesome. I'd be rather lost at RS, but that's just me =)

Nocster is at BurstNET. The service at BurstNET is pretty good, but they won't quit messing with the router and when that happens, get ready for a few hours downtime. Oh wait ...no response from the router right now (seriously). BurstNET is down :)

Only if you're unable to count (which wouldn't surprise me).

I've been with nocster just over a month now, no problems. A couple of issues when they were trying to get Cogent running, but they were promptly addressed.

The guys at Noctser have been great to us thus far, and they definately do provide a fully managed service. Only trouble with them are all the network floods that seem to happen on a monthly basis :(

Then recount the complaints about nocster vs. rackshack. There are more about rackshack (although this makes sense as they've been around longer and have more customers). The number of nocster complaints have been minimal -- usually about tiny downtimes. I personally trust Nocster far more than Rackshack (not to say rackshack sucks, Nocster is just better).

em seems many good thigs about nocster

I have been with RS for two months, I think price is pretty good for well knowledged skilled person. As naive like me, seems not suitable. I lately have hadrware problem( told by a skilled person whom I paid $$ for service), RS feel reluctant to investigate it. I am aware of they offer "non-managed" service, but..em..hardware problem seems to be their end.

PS: RS did swap ram for me after 2 days but problems still exist, now hope they can do test on it and check HD for me.

Thanks for your kind replies ^^

We are hiring additional Cisco Certified network admins to handle the router issues...but finding qualified individuals, that we would trust with our network, and thatt have experience with the high-end 12000 series routers...well...it's not that easy! We are aware of the problems, and are working on fixing this issue. As far as we are concerned, the router issues are the only thing tarring the NOCSTER image...support management, server uptime...have all been excellent. A few minor setup delays, but those are due mostly to getting hardware in stock fast enough, rather than physical setup delays. Also, we are in the middle of integrating Playpus Billing, so our billing dept will be running much smoother soon!

Hi
May I just ask have you completely resolve the connection problems yet??Thanks. I guess I will move soon if you got no problems now. many companies say "something balabala is coming" but sometimes take time to arrive.
