View Full Version : Jay Leno
Headlines, gotta love em
"boys have less sex when girls say no"
"rabbi on way to circumsision fails breathalizer test"
"man tries armed robery with a knife in a gun store"
"court bans execution of mentally retarted - court ruling may help democarts"
They had "catnapalope" on sale
Synthetic 07-30-2002, 12:13 AM Hehe... Jay's headlines are always funny. :)
Dogma 07-30-2002, 12:23 AM One of the best headlines I've seen, this ain't Leno folks, was about a mental institution that burned down. It's funny 'cause no one got hurt: Roasted Nuts
WoodShedd 07-30-2002, 01:52 AM The shape of Jay Leno's face (esp. chin) annoys me to no end.
Not nearly as bad as Oprah, though.
Styles 07-30-2002, 04:32 AM Jay's cool and all. But Conan O' Brian is the man!
ned patter 07-30-2002, 05:48 AM Jay Leno, what a stupid name.
He sounds like a bit of a leno.
Ankit 07-30-2002, 12:31 PM What's a leno?
AH-Tina 07-30-2002, 04:48 PM I can't stand Leno. He always sounds like he's reading everything...like he couldn't come up with a witty conversation, on his own, to save his life.
Letterman and Conan are AWESOME.

And, by the way, Letterman was doing Small Town News long before Leno had the brilliant "idea" of doing Headlines.

A leno is like a gay man.
Skeptical 07-31-2002, 04:51 AM I just think Leno is a let-down from what Johnny Carson had started. I miss Johnny! :bawling:
creid 07-31-2002, 01:05 PM Im gunna go with both LETTERMAN and CONNAN!!!Two very funny people!!!(I think Leno's routine is a bit dry)

Yes....so what?
Nothing personal here, Ned, but you have a gift for writing posts that make me feel uncomfortable.
APEXware 07-31-2002, 05:26 PM I do like headlines, but I've never liked Leno. Letterman & Conan rule!

Loved his daytime program... absolute nut.
Will never forget when he used a speaker and told a story about an earthquake, died when I saw that.

Yeah! I used to stay home from school on purpose to watch his daytime show. Do you remember when he had a contest for viewers to guess the date his show would be cancelled? I think he was giving away a toaster and some notebook paper hole reinforcer thingys.
One of my favorite Letterman stories: I was living in Indianapolis a few years ago, where he's from. There was a big local controversy because Broad Ripple High School, the alma mater of both Dave and NBC's Jane Pauley, was trying to build an addition to the building, and to do so would require a waiver of the city's green space rules -- just as it implies, building owners have to maintain a certain amount of undeveloped space around them.
The Indianapolis Star newspaper one day ran a well-written and compelling letter arguing against waiving the law; a letter written by a former neighborhood resident and signed: Jane Pauley, New York City.
The letter printed under that one was much more brief:
To The Editor:
Whatever Jane Pauley says goes double for me.
Dave Letterman
New York City
Coincidentally, by the way, I'm visiting a client in Indianapolis today. And right across the street right now is the now-abandoned Atlas Super Market, where Dave learned the skills that have kept him still able to compete each year with the country's championship supermarket bagging competitors.

That is so funny hahaha, I used to stay home from school too, and yep sure do!
I was the only one in my family that dug his day time program, and when he ran that contest that was what I used to get my mother interested, never stuck though, but man do I remember that, thanks for the memories hhahahah
Samuel 07-31-2002, 06:35 PM Interesting story JayC
Also, did anyone have the same thoughts that it was a glorious day when Letterman went late night?
The idea of having not only Letterman but SNL as a night time program was just the shiznitz
WoodShedd 07-31-2002, 10:42 PM I like Mike Bullard. Letterman is funny, but he just looks too old.

I always thought Dave looked like Darth Vader's evil master...if you can stretch your imagination a bit.
I like Jon Stewart...he's cool. Greg Kilborn...I don't get him. I think he's too much in love with himself.
Who's Mike B?
mattalland 08-25-2002, 04:33 PM CONAN O'BRAIN is #1. I will one day try getting a show like his in New York City, of course my own will have my own twists. www.mattalland.com is my resume.
