Okay, this has been discussed by myself with friends about 100 times, but now I need to know seriously, what people prefair.

For ages I used Notepad for my HTML/PHP/CGI coding etc, but lately I've been using Wordpad, I personaly think it's MUCH better.

What do you, my professional friends think then? Notepad - or - Wordpad?

For quick things (under 20 lines) I still use notepad. But for larger undertakings I use Evrsoft's 1stPage. It's bloatware (5megs) but it's a wonderful work environment.

I use Dreamweaver and notepad. The combination just seems to work.. Dreamweaver has its problems like all WYSIWYGs and notepad is great to fix those.

Second vote goes in for EditPlus... I'd probably be blind right now if I coded all the stuff I've coded in Notepad :D

I use Notepad, and along with that, Dreamweaver.

It's a great piece of software; it's not too bloated, but it's not too plain. I first moved over to EditPlus after looking for an alternative to Notepad with syntax highlighting, found EditPlus, and haven't looked back since.

Lately I've been using a small vb app, basicly its notepad, only on the side it shows line numbers...

Loads fast, and does everything I want, and nothing that I don't :D

Notepad for some stuff, and http://arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/index.html though I think both programs are broken as when I use either everything comes out looking like crap. Must be the programs!!! ;)

strictly UltraEdit, because you can you use "TAGLIST", "WORDLIST" and macros to customise it for any type of language. Very powerful!

Wordpad, although I haven't done much searching.

I use the REPLACE tool a lot and notepad doesn't have it. I don't like the font thing in Wordpad, though, so I often have to paste the code in notepad and then re-copy over to wordpad.

UltraEdit and nothing but. Colours my code and has a great undo feature.

I use UltraEdit -- have been for several years now. Works great! I've tried other programs before, but never liked them -- went back to UltraEdit everytime.

You all should try Programmer's File Editor.

It is awsome, that is what I use, replaced my notepad with it.

It even has support for creating macros.
