Just wondering if anyone on here currently provides services such as live video streaming. I have a client who is interested in doing a rather large video stream and I have an extra machine available to provide such services to them.
I know two of my options are SHOUTcast and VLC, just wondering if anyone else has any alternative solutions that are more interactive to the end user.
Cheers.

What do you mean interactive? You can use FLV and wrap the feed with some flash controls.

Sorry,
When I say interactive, I know when I work in film production doing commericals and what not, we had NetBriefings and allowed for the end user to communicate via text questions and what not to the host(s).
I'm not really looking to develop a product, rather to lease/purchase one...but FLV is definietly an option.

you might need to go to a streaming company or a company that supplied event streaming. When you talk about film quality you need to have some broadcast equipment in the middle -

The company in question is actually a fairly reputable video production company (I used to work in film production myself doing corporate TV commercials/broadcasts), so the equipment that they will be using to stream will without a doubt be of high qualify (Z1U, Anycast, Etc.).
All I will be doing is providing the bandwidth essentially.

I recommend Windows Media Services for live streaming video. It's a stable, tried and trued server platform and by far the cheapest and easiest to impliment. Other platforms are either clunky and difficult to set up and manage(Darwin) or extremely costly to license (Real Helix, Flash Server).
