View Full Version : I Just Purchased AccountLab Plus Anything Better?
JustinK101 09-21-2007, 04:47 AM I just bought AccountLab Plus, which is a tool that allows for billing, crm, support tickets, and most importantly the ability to setup custom templates and hosting configurations in Cpanel.
I am not too impressed. There are features that I want, that are not included and a lack of detailed custom configuration settings.
Is there anything else that is good, besides ModernBill? I Looked at ModernBill and didn’t like it too much, it was a little complex.
I have cpanel not WHM.
FEATURES I NEED
Create hosting templates:
When a new customer signs up it needs to create a folder with the name equal to their username and automatically populates that folder with various files and settings I specify, including creating e-mail addresses, ftp accounts, dns settings, and other cpanel settings. In addition I need to have it automatically setup mysql accounts and then run a php script with mysql commands to setup the account with a php/mysql product.
Support tickets
Automatically bill monthly via Authoritze.net
Store customer, invoice, and order information, allow for searching and sorting of all data. Also, allow pdf’s to be created and automatically emailed to clients with their monthly invoice.
RossMAN 09-21-2007, 04:56 AM Are you sure you don't have WHM (web host manager)?
Go to your www.domainhere.com/whm
Don't you need a resellers account or VPS or dedicated server with WHM to create new hosting accounts? This isn't done with cPanel's addon domains feature.
JustinK101 09-21-2007, 05:02 AM RossMan,
Yeah that's what I was wondering, currently I only have Cpanel, I have hostgator, I could upgrade to a reseller account, but it was my understanding that AccountLab Plus didnt need WHM, you could create templates with just Cpanel, but I am starting to think I was wrong. :( :(
JustinK101 09-21-2007, 05:17 AM Let me clearify a bit:
I am selling hosting, but acutally what I am selling is a software package (php/mysql) program that when you buy it, includes hosting. Therefore, my clients DON'T acutally need CPANEL, and they will never login to a cpanel interface. In fact they have no real control over the hosting, no ftp account information is given to clients, no cpanel login, nothing. They are paying for the sofware, which includes handfree and handsoff config of the hosting.
So I need the ability to automatically create folders, execute php scripts automatically, subdomains, add-domains, email accounts, dns settings, ftp account, mysql users, and so forth, which is everything you can do via regular CPANEL without WHM.

tsj5j 09-21-2007, 08:57 AM I don't think cPanel has an API interface available, only WHM.
What you want to do is possible, but you'll have to simulate a real user using curl to send the exact connection details like POST, etc.

For what the original poster is looking for, we do not have an API. Typically this functionality is reserved for individuals with reseller accounts.
However, it wouldn't surprise me if someone has kludged together a script that bypasses the need for an API.
domainworldaccess 09-21-2007, 11:22 AM I'd recommend going with the reseller account (you really want your customers portable and directory-segregated that way anyway in my opinion), and I would highly recommend WHMCS as a billing, support ticket & order automation package. WHMCS also supports sales of downloads, services, etc. Very comprehensive, and easy to theme and integrate into your site.
Good luck,
Joe
JustinK101 09-21-2007, 10:15 PM I viewed WHMCS and its not bad, though I am not sure it is much better than AccountLab Plus for that price. It has a lot more features but a montly price tag. I paid 45 bucks total for AccountLab Plus.
The big thing I like about WHMCS is that is supports google checkout, and it seems to have a much better support ticket system.
I would need Cpanel (WHM) to use the automated creation of accounts in WHMCS though right?
Any others that are good?

No, there are automation settings for a number of popular hosting control panels. From their website:
Supported Servers
» cPanel/WHM
» DirectAdmin
» Plesk
» Helm (NEW!)
» SCPanel
» CastControl (NEW!)
» TCAdmin
The real caveat is that it supports all of them simultaneously. You can assign accounts on any of the servers for which you provide details. Very powerful. Pricy, but has been well worth it for us. You can buy a license you own, by the way.
RossMAN 09-22-2007, 05:03 AM I would recommend upgrading to a resellers account which gives you WHM access.
JustinK101 09-22-2007, 05:22 AM Ok so I narrowed it down:
ModernBill Or WHMCS
Any comments, suggestions which is the better? Again features I am looking for:
--Automated support and ticket management
--Billing (Prefer Google Checkout Integration)
--Auto Create PSD invoices and email to customers monthly
--Search and filter customers, invoices, and products
--Create custom email templates for new customers and all osent out emails
-- Create custom fields such as customer notes, customer referral, customer gender, etc, etc
--Automatically setup hosting with auto create of mysql user, mysql database, create tables and fill the database, create email accounts, ftp accounts, subdomains, dns, folders, and email settings.
