Hiya. Say I have a domain that's about to expire in five days. Is it still possible to transfer it so close to the expiry date, or will I lose it?

Cheers.

Registrars will retain the domain for some period of time after the expiration date. You need to update the domain during that period.

It's possible to transfer it so close to expiry date and/or lose it before it's completed. Although I successfully did that over 2years ago, I've no intention of doing that again.

As Dave Zan mentioned, it's definitely possible, but everything needs to be in place: email addresses need to be correct, it needs to be unlocked, and it needs to still be active (DNS still resolves). Once the registrar puts it into an inactive state, I'm afraid you're stuck and will have to renew.

My suggestion though: renew the domain, transfer it afterwards.

Yes, you can transfer it. but its recomended that you should submit transfer request before 2 weeks of expiry.

I have successfully transfer domains away ON EXPIRY DATE, but don't try it at home.
