View Full Version : Hosting with static IP and Mailman?

I want a hosting package with approximately the features, reliability and price of Tera-byte or Hostrocket.

I need mailing lists (preferably Mailman) and a static IP.

Tera-byte and Hostrocket seem to have good reputations here, despite recent hiccups, but Tera-byte do not offer mailing list management and Hostrocket now seem to charge extra for a static IP address.

I don't need high bandwidth or lots of space and don't want to point multiple domains to different subdirectories, but I would like to be able to map synonymous domain names (e.g. .com, .net, .org, and country domains) and e-mail to the same space.

Any thoughts?

http://www.jaguarpc.com/ offers you static ip and mailinglist from their CP panel.

Not to mention their service is A class ;)

Hi,
Most VDI-based hosts can offer this from their ControlPanel. You may also check out this thread for a list of hosts that frequent this board:

Good Luck!

Thanks. Seems like a nice package, but on digging deeper the mailing list manager looks like it's Smartlist which is a pain to administrate - it's not working on my current host.

It is a Python based mailing list manager. It can be managed through a web interface and by sending e-mail messages (cf. Majordomo).

Another nice package, but they seem to have run out of static IP addresses for the moment.

Yeah, they are. But it should be solved within days. Besides they still can setup accounts, you know.

Hi,
Wizards support docs (a little outdated, they are working on a new version of their site) are still referring to the Alabanza servers. They now host with VDI and use Mailman. :)

OK, but I think I'd wait until the IPs were available. I wouldn't want to have to chase after signing up.

Hostrocket seem to have annoyed some of their customers by dropping static IPs on the economy account (long thread on their own BB) but at least if you have a printout of the package when you signed up you can argue your case better.

Hi,

Just FYI we didnt drop the static IP from the peoples accounts who signed up when we offered them as a standard feature. There were a few that were moved to IPless domains because there was an emergency situation and they needed moving without waiting for IP's to be moved etc, but any of them who requested so were moved back to IP based accounts.

No, I realised that.

Perhaps I should have said "potential" customers. You were on my shortlist until you changed the package.
