Ok this is a new one,

For anyone who does not know, i'm a anime fan, and help run several large anime channels on efnet. One of them is not +s (non secret, aka anyone can see it), of course, due to its size, this leads to a lot of spam (because when you list channels on IRC, spammers will pick the channels with the most people in them obviously).

I regularly troll spammers who come in there, just for entertainment value (is there anyone whose never done this before? :D), while i was trolling, I was checking around WHT and noticed he's also a WHT member :laugh: imagine my surprise, we've got WHT members going around IRC spamming their services, the shame! the shame! :eek:

I just thought that was totally hilarious, even though it was spam, that someone would lower themselves to spamming on IRC in an attempt to push their products. Not only that, but check out some of those channels the guy is in.

I love the fact that his "channels" are bootlegging, pirating channels (downloading movies, vcd's, and look WAREZ@@!@). Smart one. Leave behind a trail saying that all you do is do illegal crap on irc for all to see. shows the exact kinda @$$ he really is.

I'm not sure what's worse, the face they're in the channel or that someone's daring enough to offer cheap web hosting in an ISO distro channel :)

Those aren't his channels (or mine if thats what you're attempting to imply, with the phrasing i couldn't tell :eek:). It's a typical spam behavior, type /list, find the biggest channels, and cycle through them spamming, and of course they're all illegal as most of the unlocked huge ones are.

That was a friend who was spamming, I didnt know that he was.. He said he would generate me some traffic, and I guess to him that meant spamming on EFNet:rolleyes:. I appoligize for any harm he has caused, and he will definately loose the 10% for generated income.;) I think that he has given a bad name to E-PowerHost, as we are not like that and dont encourage spam or illegal activities. Thanks to porcupine who happened to report him so I could be notified of this. Again, I apoligize for any harm he has caused, and him spamming all of the channels. This just goes to show, you sholdnt let other people advertise for you, without you knowing the method. Sorry all!

I repect you and all but you do come off way too harsh on that chat you posted. Maybe it was just me but I it was clear the guy (or kid) was a newbie reseller trying to get a foot in the hosting door. Im not saying schooling him in the ways of legitimate tatics was a bad thing but I would have been a little more polite about it. I think he is a newbie that just needs some guidance and a slap on the wrist.

A little troll isn't a slap on the wrist? He was asked to stop, then asked to leave, then banned, noone even bothered to get him klined for it, i'd say a mild troll is a relatively mild slap on the wrist. When he made it clear he'd be back, i posted on here :), and voila, he was back today. :eek:

Oh im not saying you're wrong, it might have been a little harsh, but thats my typical slap on the hand. When people from our channel want to get nasty, they just get them klined from every efnet server in sight, gets rid of the spam really fast, but has permanent reprocussions for the user who purpetrated the spam.

i could probably go a little easier on 'em next time, i've got a script to auto ban the phrase most of them use, but when you get 5-10 spams/floods a day, it's hard to be considerate after a week or two :D
