StarGate 07-28-2002, 01:35 PM ... Ping IP : 66.28.242.233  :D
skylab 07-28-2002, 01:38 PM are these in the chicago DC?
will you be posting some new denver specials anytime soon?
StarGate 07-28-2002, 01:40 PM ... yes they are in the Chicago DC.
We currently have major issues with our new BGP and the 1GigE link in Denver. Current clients are not affected but we cannot get boxes up atm :bawling:
RobTheGolfer 07-28-2002, 03:18 PM so for $59 a month I can have unlimited bandwidth basically? Is there is no overage charge isn't it considered unlimited?
Zanarkandian 07-28-2002, 03:25 PM Hi,
And if i want to purchase one of these, how and when can I do ? Thanks.
cbaker17 07-28-2002, 03:26 PM This is over cogent, hmm rackshack has multiple gige links over multiple providers, im a bit confused on how your comparing yourself to them.

uh uh uh..
correction my friend!
he has cogentXP
not just cogent
cbaker17 07-28-2002, 03:36 PM ?? maybe ive been gone??? but what is cogentxp??
Charles,
It's just his reliable Cogent connection.
cbaker17 07-28-2002, 03:44 PM umm ok i must be slow today because im lost, oh well....
clocker1996 07-28-2002, 03:48 PM Originally posted by cbaker17

lol nocsol said that since his cogent has had 100% uptime for the last 3 months therefor he feels he has the right to offer "CogentXP"
so he just labels it cogentxp
meanwhile he really just has the same cogent as everyone else
smidwap 07-28-2002, 04:18 PM Maybe these specials are so inexpensive because they do not include a control panel?
cbaker17 07-28-2002, 04:22 PM gotcha, sounds like cogentBS might suit him better...

Yeah I'm a little confused about this too...you get 600GB of transfer but you can use as much as you want? Doesn't make sense.
chuckt101 07-28-2002, 07:33 PM How much are upgrades?
(HD, RAM, processor)
Samuel 07-28-2002, 08:12 PM I've never heard of Cogent XP, is this a cogent product? If so, can you please post the promotional materials touting an extended product, as well as various specs details comparing the obvious difference between cogent and cogent xp.
Surely a product with this much viability to compensate for the lower quality bandwidth just offered by cogent is touted somewhere?
netacore 07-28-2002, 08:48 PM You can't push much bandwidth through a 64MB RAM machine.

RackMy.com 07-28-2002, 08:53 PM I've never heard of Cogent XP, is this a cogent product? It's just plain 'ol Cogent :)
Samuel 07-28-2002, 08:55 PM So this is false advertising >?
StarGate 07-28-2002, 09:18 PM Cogent XP: We only offer Cogent XP in Denver and since those offers are in our Chicago DC the discussion about the XP in Cogent XP does not apply :D
"Unlimited bandwith": There is no such thing then unlimited bandwith. It means that you are not charged overages and the line that the servers are on guarantees you a MINIMUM of 600GB/month ;)

Samuel 07-28-2002, 09:22 PM Ignoring the question does apply though, that's your response. I've contacted cogent to ask for their opinion since the provider here won't answer the questions effectively.

ow come on, stop riding about that "CogentXP" expression...
meanwhile we all know it's "plain 'ol cogent" bandwidth...
the flaming is getting more, and more ridiculous. get alive!
have a nice evening!
Samuel 07-28-2002, 09:40 PM I was reading another post and came along the argument, I wanted more information.
I was not aware of it before today so until I hear from cogent I am out of it.
cbaker17 07-28-2002, 10:02 PM NocSol your making yourself look like a idiot...
RobTheGolfer 07-28-2002, 10:10 PM Agreed. :agree:
Didn't we explain what Cogent XP was earlier in this thread? Not, to mention on multiple occasions, hasn't it been discussed.
Samuel 07-28-2002, 10:29 PM First time I had seen it and looking for a DC with inexpensive bandwidth in the midwest US and east coast I became interested in this XP thing, then found another post today, looks as though its a sham though, waiting for confirmation information from cogent themselves.
Who are you referring to as we?

How can you not get this point? His may be misleading to some people :o
RackMy.com 07-28-2002, 11:29 PM "waiting for confirmation information from cogent themselves"
There is no such thing as "Cogent XP".

Samuel 07-28-2002, 11:55 PM Thanks for the definition of the word we in the context of the variables of this thread.
let us know what cogent has to say about cogentxp please.
Samuel 07-29-2002, 01:37 AM I will
StarGate 07-29-2002, 02:02 AM LOL... sorry, but LOL :D
StarGate 07-29-2002, 02:05 AM BTW: I just looked at my thread starting post (my offer) and I cannot see any reference to Cogent XP there... oh well...
WebmastTroy 07-29-2002, 02:22 AM Funny how some people go along with what 1 person says...
Anyway, nice offer NocSol!
phpcoder 07-29-2002, 02:24 AM Samuel, do you honestly beilive that there is a thing called cognetxp?
If you did in fact email cognet and are waiting for a reply I can tell you this: They are going to say NO THEY HAVE NO SUCH THING.
This thread should really be started over since some people actually think that there is a thing called cognetxp when people even admit there isn't. ;)

You say it here, and there *better* be such a thing or this thread gets tossed and you get a vacation from the ad forums for a few months.
dontknownutn 07-29-2002, 07:48 AM Nice offer! I don't believe NocSol said anything about Cogent XP until it was brought up by someone else. Maybe he made a mistake in an earlier post. So what! Looks like there are a few people on this board who likes to start trouble. I think the ones who reply with something totally irrelevent to the subject at hand should do the time...and I'll look somewhere else. Wanted to learn a little, but nothing to learn here except how to bad mouth one another.
Furton 07-29-2002, 08:16 AM If people want to know what CogentXP is do a search on these forums, it's not so hard, we've had this discussion before and there's no need for this flamming on such a good offer.
edude 07-29-2002, 09:47 AM cbaker is at his flamming again..
I think WHT needs to bring in rules where hosts cannot flame other hosts especially in a hosts special offer thread! Like freewebspace.net has!
Nocsol ignore them, they are just jealous they can't get CogentXP :P
Chicken 07-29-2002, 10:04 AM The issue has been clarified by Robert. Cogent XP is a product of his, as he says. I've expressed that connectivity should be described as 'Cogent', as that is what it is. Ads should not be misleading (whether intentionally or unintentionally), and it seems a fair amount of people are confused by use of the term.

I have gotten used to that kind of remarks... the downside of "freedom of speech"
I don't even nessecarily disagree with their concerns but i thas nothing to do here... oh well...
skylab 07-29-2002, 11:15 AM oh the shock.
the same companies, flaming robert with the same old flames.
where's that yawning smiley again?
cbaker17 07-29-2002, 12:06 PM edude lay off abusing the substances... i didnt even bring up cogentxl i simply asked what it was, someone else brought it up and when people told me he was trying to pass off cogent bandwidth as a new and improved product i said that was stupid.
Just because i attacked you in a previous post about posting useless banter in the past, does not mean you can tunr everything i say into a flame.
If you dont like the rules of this board go to another one or perhaps youd like this better:
"Edude, thanks for letting us know about this cbaker character, your information will help others to decide whether they should sport asbestos boxers in the future"
or
":)"
Incognito 07-29-2002, 01:54 PM So we want have to go through all the threads to see them....and it could be perpetual and infinite in nature....because some of these have become so automatic....
Example of a thread that could just be made a sticky...
Nocsol attacks Rackshack....
CBaker attacks Nocsol....
Edude attacks CBaker....
Just a start, but I'm sure we could come up with more.
When you attempt to disparage your competitor, you may lower the public opinion of him. However, you are almost guaranteed to lower the public opinion of yourself.
edude 07-29-2002, 02:37 PM I'm no ones competitor, cbaker clearly flamed NocSol, even incognito mentioned it :D
Samuel 07-29-2002, 03:02 PM I just wanted to know what this cogentxp thing was, and I DID search for it before I posted, and ya know what I found? This thread, and two others.
I dont see the massive amount of discussion that someone in this thread mentioned, and the answers by nocsol didn't answer the question.
1 Is this an actual product by Cogent
2 If this is not an actual product by Cogent then isn't this false advertising and copyright infringement
Yes I've seen comments by people stating that it is not and I also noted nocsol's lack of response.
I've called Cogent and asked these questions
1 Is this a product of Cogent's
Answer: No, there is only two flavors of Cogent 100 meg and a gigE
Retail and Wholesale
2 If this is not a product of Cogent's then isnt this copyright infringement and repackaging?
Yes this is copyright infringement based on the information that was provided to cogent and false advertising and we are going to research this further and will be following up.
They are very interested in this, and I am sure that Nocsol will be hearing from this.
I do not appreciate providers offering services through this site (WHT) hoarking on others products and essentially riding on their name without authorization

Having run a datacenter for a company based in Chicago it's guys like you twisting the truth of another company's products and infringing on their name to suit your own desires.
Freedom of Speech never has a downside unless someone like you is not able to be exposed for what you really are, a thief, or simply are ignorant of copyrighting and trademarking.
As a customer, and a potential customer of Cogent you have confused their product offering on s-t-a-r-g-a-t-e.hm/nocsol.htm and also on this forum.
I am going to ask the moderators of this message board to remove your offerings mentioning CogentXP.
edude 07-29-2002, 03:28 PM Samuel who do you think you are?
Head honcho?
He can do what he wants...
Samuel 07-29-2002, 03:31 PM My name is Samuel
I am a potential customer of Cogent products for my office on the West Coast
edude 07-29-2002, 03:32 PM Well then i think you should try CogentXP :)
Samuel 07-29-2002, 03:33 PM I almost did... LOL
cbaker17 07-29-2002, 04:02 PM Wasnt flaming was just pointing out that attempting to pass off a huge companys product as his own re branded re named product, was ignorant and making him look bad...
hmm maybe it was a flame :)
TimPD 07-29-2002, 04:30 PM Never Heard of CogentXP he told me the same it isn't cogent it is CogentXP...

However interesting this XP thing maybe, I don't believe Robert invoked it in this particular thread.
I would suggest raising discussion on previous thread, where he mentioned it. (if you choose to).
Peter
StarGate 07-29-2002, 07:53 PM As I said *yawn* it is a product of MY own *yawn* never said there is anything from Cogent called like that *yawn*.
Also Chicken was the ONLY person that really managed to put things into NICE and CONSTRUCTIVE words. He explained to me that calling MY product CogentXP is my right BUT it is confusing/misleading. I agreed with him because he treated me like a human beeing.
@cbaker17 and (partly) Samuel: I think you behaviour stinks! If you talk to people like you talk to ME you will NEVER get what you want. You have very lowlight manners and don't really care what the **** you are babbling all day long. Just stay out of my ****ing threads if you don't mind ;)
Gem Hexen 07-29-2002, 08:02 PM Just remove the XP and all will be solved. :)

Right, which is why NocSol didn't even use the term in the ad. It was the people who brought it up, almost as if they wanted to be confused. It just looks like flaming to me.
Samuel 07-29-2002, 08:55 PM It may look flaming but that is certainly not "My" intention, I just wanted the truth and the provider wasn't and still isn't offering it.
Let's be clear here.

It could have been the fact that the term has been brought up several times before and nobody had ever bothered clearing it up until now.

acidHL 07-30-2002, 09:08 AM I hate to get into a flame thread, but other matters aside... what exactly IS CogentXP?
I mean I realise it has to do with a coghent connection... whats different about Cogent XP from you or a normal Cogent connection?
RackMy.com 07-30-2002, 09:13 AM NocSol just decided to call his Cogent connection "CogentXP" because it's been up for 1 month without downtime. It's just Cogent, that's it :)
citrus 07-30-2002, 09:25 AM Enough guys :crap:...
How about we get back to the orignal topic which was dedicated servers. This thread isn't about CogentXP, Robert didn't even mention it in his original post. If you do want to discuss it, do so in another thread or maybe even off board but not in a thread that isn't even relevant...
BTW Robert, Nice offers and I hope sales are going well. :)
GsAlliance 07-30-2002, 01:11 PM are any of you actualy serious about renting one of theese servers or do you just get bored and feel the need to cause trouble on forums.. Its getting pretty lame if you ask me.
cbaker17 07-30-2002, 01:49 PM Whats lame? COgentXP??
Furton 07-30-2002, 02:07 PM No, the endless bashing is lame!
CyberSol 11-28-2002, 06:28 PM May I just point out...
People are calling it Cogent XP but originally it was CogentXP which is a totally different name,
CyberSol 11-28-2002, 06:30 PM uh uh uh..
correction my friend!
he has cogentXP
not just cogent
AHEM... It was Mister Clocker who pointed this out also so stop flaming at NocSol...
P.s. NocSol... Wicked Deals
Samuel 11-28-2002, 06:49 PM They both infringe on the Cogent copyright, so what does it matter?
