Hello

We have been selling domain names since last September under the Hostroute.com and Name-route.com brands.

It came to our attention that:
* the cost of offering web and e-mail forwarding was about the same as offering real web space.
* sites using web forwarding are penalised by search engines.
* many people are looking for cheap domain registration and then use a free web host for the site. Most say they would prefer a host without ads.

With this in mind we have set up a new brand at http://www.ecalpemos.com/ which is a "half way house" between discount registration and free web hosting

Here's what you get for $20:
----------------------------
Registration of a .com / .net/ .org domain for 1 year (in your name - of course)
10MB web space.
1 POP3 (catch all) e-mail account.
*NO* advertising anywhere on your web pages or e-mail.
*NO* spam or opt in advertising either .......

Here are some of the additional options:

extra 10MB web space $10
cgi-bin $10
(more to come)
We can upgrade you with these add ons, or to any of the Hostroute.com packages at any time with no disruption to your web site

Transfers:
----------
As we are an OpenSRS registrar you can transfer your domain to another host at any time, free of charge.
People who already have a domain name can buy the hosting and e-mail serivce for $20.

Reliability and longevity of this service:
-----------------------------------------
The hosting package has aready been tested with customers at Hostroute.com and has proven to be very reliable with hardly any support of end users required.
We believe we can sustain this service at a profit because of our increasing capacity and automated systems.

The cost of providing the web space and e-mail account is less than the cost of providing forwarding; the support costs are less, and we charge $1 more for this service than a domain with forwarding.
I am confident this service can be sustained at a worthwhile profit even with no customers upgrading (which, of course, would be a bonus).

Visit http://www.ecalpemos.com/ for further information.
The site is fully functional to take orders, but the site contents (especially the help pages) are being updated several times a day - so come back often.

Hello
When I saw someone had replied I thought they would be saying "it can't possibly make money".....

Actually the name is the word "someplace" spelled backwards.
Its taken from a novel by Barbara Vine about some people who take over an old house and call it Ecalpemos because its there hide-away and the word sounds like a Greek island.
I have had the domain name for a while.

For those who are interested, here's the maths:

Expenditure
-----------
1 web server for 12 months lease $5400
1000 domains $10000
Total $15400

Income
------
1000 packages * $20 $20000

This excludes income from upgrades etc.

If I sell less than 1000 in a year then the capacity will be used for other purposes.
If I sell more than 1000 in a year then I get more capacity in.
