Do people really look at bulliten boards in grocery stores and such?

A lot of older people do I see, but around where I live atm, they are by bus stops, and if I was waiting for a bus, I defiantly would be inclined to read it. Whether I would buy it or not depends on my wants/needs.

I wouldn't read them in places like grocery stores, however, if it's at a restaurant and I'm waiting for take-out or waiting to be seated, I'll take a look at the bulletin board and some business cards.

If you're looking to advertise in these sort of places, my advice would be to try and post flyers/business cards wherever possible (don't take down other's just to fit yours up though).

As Annex Sgarbus told, people will read them if they are waiting for something and needs time to be killed. So I think a restaurant or a hotel would be more better than in a grocery store as people will be just busy in grocery store.

Just my thoughts.

It also depends on what your advertising. If your advertising for example a store next door to the business where the bulletins are up you make get some traffic, but if your advertising web hosting, depending on the type of people that go there it may not get anybody interested in your services. Advertising is all about targeting.

It depends upon how the ads are catchy and where they are placed.

A lot of people in college read the bulletins on the boards near classes. It is something to do before class starts.

I'm not sure a grocery store is going to have the sort of audience you are looking for. =P

Advertising web hosting in a grocery store is just about as untargeted as it gets.

I agree with mtgm & zathost, i don't think grocery store is good place for it. However i believe in college, let say on bulletins in IT Building with full of IT students, web designers, programmers... It would be great idea.

I agree! The college IT building or computer lab would be a good idea. Offer a college student discount. I don't know what you particular client is; however, the hotels and other places FedEx Kinko's might be perfect for those web design, development, & hosting projects for businesses.

Web hosting customers don't eat? ... ;)

I usually scan them on my way past. If something catches my interest very quickly I'll take a closer look and then will spend some time looking at other ads that are posted. I suppose getting me to stop walking past to take a closer look would be your largest obstacle.

I agree with everyone else that advertising where you would find a more targeted market is best.
