I clicked on link in Outlook, from a post reply, and all of the sudden all these windows popped up. Anyone experience this?

Did you have any object accidentally sitting on the CTRL and the N buttons at the same time?

Who is the one who sent the email? can just be some prankster who did some vicious script to execute infinite popup windows to crash PCs.

I've come across these prank sites in the past... those that are coded to launch a heap of browser windows in the hope of crashing your computer (or in the least making it inconvenient to close all the windows).

There are others such as ones that move the browser window around the screen so fast it is impossible to press "X", etc.

Solution - CTRL+ALT+DEL and kill the IE process.

No this was the WHT mailer that notifies you when there is a new message...

That changes it completely.

All I can think of is some kind of virus, or as Roy suggested - perhaps a key is stuck on your keyboard?

I doubt it was eitehr, as my Virus Definitions are up to date, and I didn't have anything on CTRL+N Keys.
