AcuNett 07-27-2002, 06:05 PM They seem to offer very good services, but would like some opinions from WHT members. sonichost 07-27-2002, 07:59 PM From what I've read they seem to be great. Their staff were friendly and answered my pre-sales questions promptly and professionally. I would like to hear personal experiences on them also... Reading deeper the only thing that turns me off is they can switch you from actual 300GB to 95 percentile billing if your server goes over 5Mbps. If that isn't true, please correct me as it would change my opinion of them. isildur 07-27-2002, 09:16 PM Hi peoplez, happy saturday eve. If you do a search on the forum there were a couple threads previous with Fastservers in the subject, some included some past experiences & other details of that nature. If you have any questions at all about anything in particular please make sure you get in touch with our staff directly instead of posting in this particular forum. Otherwise, hopefully in the hours/days to come you'll get some feedback (hopefully decent) :D , out of this thread. g00d luck! ck 07-27-2002, 09:23 PM I have one server with PowerSurge/FastServers and they have been very responsive so far, server was setup very quickly, tech support enquiries responded to promptly. Hope this helps :) BiGWill 07-27-2002, 10:21 PM from what i've heard, they seem to be a good solution for west-coasters and everything which goes west ... like asian nodes or australian ones ... greets, fastservers_net 07-28-2002, 06:23 AM Originally posted by sonichost From what I've read they seem to be great. If that isn't true, please correct me as it would change my opinion of them. This is a very true statement, once a server is doing 1.5 Terabytes of Transfer or 1500 GB's, we move it over to a 95th percentile billing, please keep in mind that for any of the lower end machines this would be virtually impossible for a single server to produce and would be applicable to the larger 4-5 server solutions that we are putting together for load balancing and clustering or in a co-location environment. 5MB/s is a tremendous amount of bandwidth and for the record this does not mean if your server spikes up and hits 5MB/s at that time we switch you over, we all know that this will happen on a regular basis. What it does mean that of a course of a month if you data transfer rates hit a 5MB/s level measures at the 95th percentile we will work out getting you switched over to that type of measurement. It also means you most likely went about 1200GB over your given bandwidth and have anywhere from $2400-$3600! midnight 07-28-2002, 11:24 AM I have two servers with them. They are one of the best I have ever signed up with. Their staff are friendly and respond fast and accurately to your request. Aaron and Trevor are great guys. I am about to get my third server with them. I can recommend them without any shadow of doubt. Here is a link to the previous post about these guys. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58902&highlight=fastservers I hope this helps. torwill 07-28-2002, 01:28 PM i have a server with Fastserver for 2 weeks now... and i am happy with it so far. :D Arron is a great guy. pre-sales questions are answered promptly...!! server setup is done 2 days after the order placed. they asked for some questions about how i want them to configure the server almost right after the order placed, and i got the server ready notice 24 hour later!! Support is great! a solution is always sent back within a hour or 2... i am especially happy with how fast their server is to Asian node!! the pings are mostly like 170~210. i've tried to ping every host i could find. Fastserver is so far the best. :D:D TimPD 07-28-2002, 02:38 PM **EDIT** isildur 07-28-2002, 04:11 PM Timmy- Your post is much appreciated. We are now considering forgiving your debt and perhaps sending down a fruit basket so you and your ever-multiplying staff can bask in the light of your newfound business sense. Perhaps I am just being humorous. ? You've largely been forgotten, however. We certainly don't welcome your support, and the WHT community would be better off without your constant empty posts and uninformed "advice". Good luck making amends to the situation- you won't be dealing with us directly on this issue any longer. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57723&highlight=paradise http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59652&highlight=paradise Best wishes Timmy. Again, please refrain from posting anything regarding our services until you have rectified the situation. papepo55 07-28-2002, 07:03 PM Celeron1.2GHz = $98/mo (very good) Pentium4 1.6GHz = $168/mo (I hope more discount) It looks they have good datacenter and good service. ----------------------- correction Pentium1.6GHz to Pentium4 1.6GHz midnight 07-28-2002, 07:41 PM Celeron1.2GHz = $98/mo (very good) This is pretty good deal. In my opinion, I think it is the best deal so far. Not only are you getting this for $98/mo, you also get quality service that comes with it. Not just those lousy service out there. Trust me on this, I have been around for awhile, I know good deal when I see one. I just do not hop on any $99 ban-wagon I see. I hope These guys keep this deal and not change it down the road. Nothing can beat this deal for now. I can now afford to make my hosting packages more competitive. Man... I like this. sonichost 07-28-2002, 08:25 PM 5MB/s is a tremendous amount of bandwidth and for the record this does not mean if your server spikes up and hits 5MB/s at that time we switch you over, we all know that this will happen on a regular basis. Thanks for clearing that up. I don't think any of our servers have sustained 5Mbps for longer than 30 minutes (mostly just while doing backups). FastServers is looking better. :D BJMG 07-31-2002, 01:02 AM I have been with these guys for some time now and allow me to say this: I have leased over 17 different servers from 8 different companies, all for various projects, reasons, services, etc... In ALL of my experience, I have NEVER been with a company who appears to be so truly customer oriented. Right from the beginning, I have been nothing but extremely satisfied. I have never dealt with a company so in-tune with my needs and budgets. Everytime I call them, email them or chat with them, I receive nothing but honest answers. I have heard "I am not sure, let me get back to you on that" more times than I'd like, HOWEVER, they have ALWAYS emailed me, and even called me back a few times, to give me the answer, not just ANY answer, but the correct answer. They did not just tell me what I wanted to hear, like many others do and they are always willing to extend a very lending hand if ever the need arises. I know I may sound like some "ad" for this company, but I swear to you, I have NEVER EVER been this happy with any other company. If any one has any other questions, please feel free to PM me. |
