I'm working on a new website, its going to be pretty much completely dynamic, built with php using a mysql backend. Also i plan on putting VBulletin board on it. At the beginning, obviously there wont be too much traffic, although hopefully it should pick up quick. It will be a comptuer hardware/geek site, and we all know there is plenty of them on the internet ;) It will be hosted on a T1 where i work, i cant max it, but as long as the 5 people who actually use it for work purposes dont complain, i'm ok. Now i'm not sure what to use for the server. Right now i have a 233mmx, 160ram, 7200rpm ide hd, all set up, which i used for developing it. Will that be enough to handle the load for a while? The os is FreeBSD 4.2. How much can i expect a box like that to handle? I also have a p2-400 box, which i am using, but if necessary i could use it for the site, although i'd rather not yet. Eventually i'd like to use the 400 for a db server, but i'd like to get a few months out of the 233. Well after all that writing all i basically want to know if the 233 can handle a small/decent sized db drivin website for at least a few months...or how much it can handle. Oh yeah, the box will be just about dedicated to the website, the only other thing running on it is qmail for a few domains, although on a busy day it only processes 20 or so emails.

thanks in advance

What I believe if you run *nix varian, PHP, MySql , P233mmx with 160MB RAM is strong enough to handle few accounts (I would suggest max 50 accounts).

If you're using PHP4 and you have it configured to run as a module, I think you'll be fine. Since you already have that box, the best thing to do would be just try it.
