Plus not all can afford the amounts charged by other payment processors. So I would say go with them, I've been with them for years now. they now pay you into your bank account in your own currency as well. Darth 07-27-2002, 03:13 PM Paypal are not very reliable do a search. mk123 07-27-2002, 03:24 PM umm... then who is reliable and in budget price? demonet 07-27-2002, 04:05 PM Paypal is fine if you dont mind loosing a few possible clients, due to the fact they will have to sign up for a paypal account just to rent/buy from you. 2checkout and hostcharge are other options........... best bet would to offer both types of payments :D Tetraboy 07-27-2002, 04:11 PM Some people like paypal but I don't care for it much. CC is better because you can always do a chargeback if a host trys to rip you off but you cant really do that with paypal. Synthetic 07-27-2002, 04:22 PM I'd be hesitant to use PayPal, as I've heard a few good things, but many, many more negative comments. I think it's somewhat of a risk going with them. VoxKeysGtr 07-27-2002, 04:33 PM As a consumer, I do not & would never use Paypal. I have used it before and been ripped off, and not been helped in way shape or form by Paypal. I had to resort to a chargeback. Paypal customer support is very poor. As a seller, i would be even more hesistant to entrust my money to them. Somebody mentioned doing a search. I would recommend that as well. Good luck. Good alternatives are 2Checkout and Revecom/Paysystems. I have used both as a consumer or a seller and have been happy with the results. :) TimPD 07-27-2002, 04:58 PM NP here with it. We use it now and still do. RH Robert 07-27-2002, 06:27 PM personally, I have been using paypal since the beginning, I even had an X.com checking account. Never had a problem with them. As a business, we have used them for approx 1.5 years, never a problem. Yes I hear some people say they are a ripoff, but those are few and far between if you take into account the total number of users. And most of those are resolved. People with bad experiences just tend to be more vocal than others. Not that they are under new management, with more staff, the problems will be evn less frequent. I would recommend it for another payment option to any business. Notice I said another not as the only. It has brought some business to us by offering it as an option, I don't think it has driven anyone away as we have 2checkout also. JSpired 07-27-2002, 06:28 PM I don't think PayPal is a bad alternative to have. (Emphasis on the word "alternative.") We find that most buyers prefer to pay by other means (like 2checkout), but we use it as a backup method for the few who request it. Most of the people we've spoken with are turned off by the fact that they have to register an account to pay by PayPal, as mentioned above. MAX POWER 07-27-2002, 10:51 PM Hi, Iwould recommend 'PaySystems' or otherwise known as 'Revcom'. They are excellent and very reliable. Their client interface is excellent and the product and billing systems are very easy to set up. With their system, unless you are a VERY large host, there is no need for a seperate billing set-up. The set up cost is $49 and their fees are low. They have several options for payment. I am a satisfied user. Highly recommended! :) MAX POWER :homer: mallpay 07-28-2002, 04:09 AM I have used PayPal for about 3 years. No problems what so ever! They are always improving, adding services, features, and options! Great tools and easy to use. frozen 07-28-2002, 10:30 AM Ebay is buying them. What is everyones opinion on this? 100 07-28-2002, 11:13 AM You almost have to use PayPal. You don't have to but there are so many that preferr to pay with that method it is smart to give it as an option. ecuuleus 07-28-2002, 11:20 AM Originally posted by frozen Ebay is buying them. What is everyones opinion on this? Well, being a user of ebay as well, I would say its a good thing. Otherwise... Back to payment providers, I quite like the propay site, only problem? I am from England so i can't sign up with them, also you may wish to check out how paypal deal with payments now, as you sign up the same way you do with other payment processors such as worldpay, certainly an improvement. Also, as far as customer care goes, I have no problems using them, granted i only needed to chat to them a couple times over the years, but still they replied within 24hours, which is about what most processors,'should' at least try to acheive. What you may wish to do is to sign up to a couple payment providers, try them out and see where to go from there... jared3404 07-28-2002, 02:37 PM Paypal works for us. Seems like the complaints I hear are the minority. ________________ Jared C Host-Grid.com rlynch 07-28-2002, 03:07 PM i would offer paypal as an option, but not the only option. CC's will forever be the preferred payment choice. agree? mk123 07-28-2002, 03:45 PM Sorry guys.. i don't want to be left out... CC means what? CCNOW or something else? I heard some people swear Ravecon is bad, personally i started using Paypal because of its costing :) Yeah agreed if you have already Paypal account then its ok... else customers can shy away... rlynch 07-28-2002, 05:50 PM cc = credit card webx 07-29-2002, 09:48 PM Use PayPal as an additional option. Many users prefer PayPal.
