Hi Everyone
We are interested in selling one of our boxes and wanted to know what we might expect to get for it. It's about 2 years old and just recently had one of the Opteron's replaced with a brand new chip.
Specs:
DUAL AMD OPTERON 246 (2.0GHZ) 1MB CACHE
TYAN S2882G3NR (VIDEO, 2 X GIGE LAN, USB, DDR, SATA)
4GBS (8x512MB) DDR 400 ECC REG LP MEMORY
3 x SEAGATE 250GB 8MB SATA HARD DRIVE
2U CHENBRO RM214 2U (460W, 6 HDD BAYS)
3WARE 8006-2LP 2 PORT SATA RAID CARD (RAID 1)
I've checked eBay and can't really find anything comparable. Any ideas?

I don't know that I'd pay more than a few hundred for a 2 year old web server.

Thanks Tina. I've seen much lower-end boxes bring more than a couple hundred here at WHT, so that surprises me. And again, one of the processors was recently replaced with a brand new chip, as was one of the hard drives. Hmm.. thanks for the insight though. Anyone else?

Were they boxes that had been used for 2 years though?

If I were you I wouldn't make a fuss about the new processor and hard drive - people might start wondering what fried the old ones and how much life there is left in the components you didn't replace :)
No fuss, just bringing to light the fact that some of the components are new just as I informed everyone it was a 2 year old server. Those facts go hand in hand when you're talking about selling aged equipment.

Well, one of the hard drives is new(ish)...but I wouldn't even use the other 2 for anything of importance, so those would be useless to me. The RAM is a bit 'iffy' at 2 years old, but probably still okay. Those are major deciding factors in how much you'll get for that machine. The value is going to be in the case and somewhat in the processor. But, even then, no one is going to want to pay near new pricing for those.

Thanks Tina.
No problem. Any other hopes and dreams I can crush for you? :D
