I have a domain I let expire on Aug 4th, never thought I would use it but figured now maybe I will find something to do with it and tried to renew it through Godaddy and they are telling me I have to pay $80 to get it back :eek: yet my WHOIS info it still listed under the domain.

Anyhow I said forget it and got another domain (not a big loss) but I was wondering will I be able to register this domain again anytime? Meaning how long will Godaddy sit on it before it becomes available.

It is not a big deal, it was just a domain for family photos etc and like I said I did get another domain that is just as good but would like this one if I can pick it up for normal registration rates.

Renewal grace period is 12 days in Godaddy. As I understand after this 12 days period there is a 30 day Redemption Period + 30 day Redemption Grace Period and then it is made available for registration.

If your domain is, in any way, valuable, it is not likely to become available again.

If you like the domain, pay the $80. If you let it drop, you won't have much chance of recovering it.

You can always try back ordering services like snapnames.com, but they will cost you almost the same amount, if successful at recovering your domain when it gets released.
