Hi, I didn't know where to put this topic so hopefully it is okay here.

I have a forum and I would really like to know more about how much I can generate monthly from Google Adsense. I don't understand most of the jargon.

It has 3800 members, here are some average statistics:

Page views (are these impressions?): 500,000
Hits: 4,000,000
Unique: 20,000

Now I've played about with the calculators you can find online, so I entered:
Impressions: 500,000
Click through rate: 0.5%
Cost per a click: $0.05

...and it came out with $1,250 a day, hmm, I must be clearly doing something wrong. :D That's a lot of money.

I'm not looking for an accurate answer, just a range, even if it's a fairly big range I want to understand it better and know what I can make off my forum (I'm not wanting to test it as I like to plan it a lot more than that, I'm curious really).

It's IPB forum software, I would place Google Adsense at the header and footer so visibly in reach.

Thanks alot,
Nick.

When I put in those numbers I get $125. But I just did it quickly.

Whats the forum topic so we can make a better estimation?

I get $125 as well (500000 * 0.005 = 2500 * $0.05 =$125)

Thanks guys. It's a model hobby forum.

Is 0.5% click through rate a good estimate? Same with the cost per click?

I see what I was doing wrong now. :) Although $125 for a month isn't much (the data in my OP is for a MONTH not day).

I'm trying to figure out which is accurate. In cPanel I have Awstats and Webalizer for analysing page views and hits.

For August:

Awstats: 424173 pages
Webalizer: 932802 pages

That's nearly double difference! Which Should I trust? And pages are impressions yes?

Thanks. :)

Pages are page views so yeah they'll equal impressions.

webalizer is a cheap and basic stats program. it doesn't know how to differentiate between spam hits and real ones. AWstats does. that's why the difference.

I think you should consider Awstats and google analytic stats, as in my experience both stats are most of the time are almost similar.
