Hi,

I am sorry if this was posted before and I haven't had time to go search for it.

Well anyway, I would like to know if it was possible to test a host's connection speed or bandwidth. If anyone knows, please do tell.

Thank you,
James

You could ping them to see how good response times are. As far as speed goes, you may want to ask them to provide you with a speed test for their servers/network. Most hosts will be more than happy to provide you with a sample download to try out.

Hope this helps

Connection speeds also vary widely by what network your site visitors and host are on and where they are.
A research to where you can traceroute from sites around the world is at www.tracert.com (click on traceroute)

Ask them for a selection of user web sites and test them out for speed.

If you ask them for a sample down load then they are bound to give you a file on there best and most well connected server, which may not be where they host users.
