I just love the "Hacker Safe" badge on the top of the page. Speaking of, that site (Hacker Safe that is) is such a gimmick.

The indexu software is aweful. Iv seen more indexu sites hacked than any other webhosting directory software. I was once thinking of buying it until i visted some of the sites that are using their software on their SITES USING IT page only to find about 3 sites hacked up. Naturally i went with something else.

Third, Google does not have a 'hack safe' badge. Fourth, Google would not have much difficulty locating and destroying the hacker. Fifth, most hackers would rather hack Microsoft. Sixth, this hacker would be shunned by his/hers peers for not hacking Microsoft.

4th: Of course not, but most script kiddies aren't idiots, they don't bite the hand which feeds them.

5th: Not true, any target is worth points, they would rather levy people out of their money by hacking a bank, then just getting into microsoft's DBs and being arrested.

6th: Completely false, he would get he would be shunned for ruining the google dorks.

Its not easy to hacking google or any website. It needs a lot of talent and more over guts i would say. Hacking Google is tough because they use their own OS.

It might be an old thread, but I'll still reply.

The version of IndexU that you see hacked are old versions (3.x) that were old and has an XSS exploit. The reason for the popularity of those sites is because that version was and still is freely available on warez sites.

People just don't pay attention to things like patches and that applies to any script, not just indexu.

As for the hack, it was a custom CMS that was the open door.
