Hi!

I had read on the forums that Domain Prices would be increasing soon due to ICANN Fee Increase.

Could anyone tell me when this is happening?

I'd like to add a couple of years to my domains before that.

Please don't give me the usual Search the Forum suggestion. ;)

Thanks.

I wouldn't panic, it is only .25c and I think it is in October.

Hmmm.. Thanks.

I hadn't paniced. I was anyways going to add a couple more years to all my domains coz I was fed up of renewing each and every domain every year.

Hence, I thought I'd do it before the price increase. That's all.

Actually, ICANN is not to blame. ICANN have lowered their fee from 25 cents, to 22 cents, to what it is now, 20 cents!

Verisign, on the other hand, is increasing prices on COM/NET registrations on Oct. 15, 2007.

http://www.verisign.com/press_releases/pr/page_041054.html

"VeriSign announced that as of Oct. 15, 2007, the registry fee for .com domain names will increase from $6.00 to $6.42 and that the registry fee for .net domain names will increase, from $3.50 to $3.85. This will be the first registry fee increase for .com and .net since the fee structure was put in place by ICANN in 1999."

May be I'll sound Stupid but, if Verisign increases .com and .net fees how will it affect other Registrars like Godaddy, Enom, Directi?

Does Verisign control .com or .net domains?

It'd cost them more, as the increment made by VeriSign is more than the decrement made by ICANN.

VeriSign is the operating registry for both.

They all buy their .COM and .NET domains from Verisign. (the registry)

Yet another fee but thankfully it's only $.25.

If you own lots of domains you can save a nice chunk of change by renewing your domains now. :)

Wrong, it's 0.42 $, and registrars may round up that number
