Prob. the two most popular now eays are eNom (www.enom.com) and OpenSRS (www.opensrs.com).

I'm not sure about OpenSRS, but eNom has the concept of sub-resellers. That's usually the best way to go, as you don't have to invest as much (if any) money.

for all practical purposes, nothing. Resellers have to deposity money with eNom to get their wholesale rate. They can then signup sub-resellers. Some will setup sub-resellers for free, others charge a setup fee.

Yes, sub-resellers can set up their own sub-resellers, but after a few levels the wholesale prices will prob. get to high.

My guess is that eNom would prefer that the reseller answer questions. I'll ask my contact at eNom to get a more definitave answer.
