justheard on sky one news in the uk a group of obese americans are sueing mucky d's , kfc, wendys and Burger King because eating fast food makes you a lardy feckless get. ok so theyre actually sueing because they didnt know and werent properly informed (exactly how dense can you be) that fast food isnt very healthy and contains fat. if there was a law that said they had to say in big letters fast food = bad for you then they would be displaying them.
they havent broken any specific law so why are they being sued for a law that maybe should exist only to protect the simple in the world.
i for one hope they fail and end up with a huge legal bill and can never afford a burger again. its plain rediculous the way people these days will accept no responsibility for their actions and refuse to think for themselves. everything is always someone elses fault.

cause it makes fat people feel better about themselves, gives them an excuse to be fat, so now they can say "well I never knew that if I ate 4 whoopers and 3 large fries and a milk shake everyday for 5 years for lunch and had 2 buckets of chicken for dinner that I would get so fat, but now I'm sueing them".

Plus it seems now a days that the legal system is so f'd up that you can basically sue for anything, wait a minute I didn't know that being on WHT all day long would keep me from doing my work and now I could lose my job, :homer: hmmmm...I think I'll call my lawyer :D

I'm sure that to some degree these people were aware that fast-food isn't all that healthy. (How could they not be?)

They're just doing it for the money, I'd say.

I think I'm gonna create a new help line, call it "Retards Anonymous" So people like this can call, also for people that need to read the directions on the back of pop-tart boxes can call, or for the people that need to read the directions on the back of shampoo bottles can call. Or for the person that can't find the "any" key on the keyboard, I'll give them a place to call to be comforted and helped.

"Hi my name is Steve and I'm a retard, I've been a retard for about 5 years now. {crowd} Hi Steve {/crowd}.

I'll make millions I tell ya, cause we all now from being in the computer industry that there are many MANY retards in the world today.

Can you tell it's Friday?

lol retards all over the world are shocked offended and appauled that you would categorise them with people who think a big mac supersize fries and supersize milk sludge is healthy. some people are just tooooo damn greedy and tooooo damn lazy to think and take responsibility for their lives. like the complete efforts who sued mc donalds cos they sold tea that was hot. i mean is it cold on the planet you come from ??? tea is server boiling, as in boiling water, water approaching 100 deg C (unless its starbucks who have patented water that boils at the same temp as the core of the sun) im srry but why does it always seem to be america leading the way in this sorta thing? :(

And I've seen the guy interviewed on TV and he's really not that fat. Certainly not what you'd call "obese." I really couldn't comment on whether he's a lardy feckless get, however.

But I agree, it seems pretty ridiculous. He's saying things like "they said it was all-beef, so I assumed that meant healthy..." I don't know, maybe you could make this argument if you'd tried it 25 years ago, but there seems to have been no shortage of information available about things like the fat content of fast food for the past couple of decades. And pretty much every fast food place makes the info available. Sure, not prominently with big flashing warning signs, but enough so that anyone interested could find it.

If I were a judge, I'd fine the idiot, fine the idiot lawyer 50x that fine, and physically throw them out of court. If you're a blithering idiot, stay home and watch t.v., don't announce it to the world by getting on t.v. and being a donkey saying that you're so stupid that you ate greasy food for decades, thinking it was somehow healthy.

Probably has a book coming out about healthy eating...

more to the point he could have eaten these foods if he got off his arse and did some exercise. if he wanted 100% beef then buy a steak. its fast food. remember MSG? do you really trust the conents of a happy meal to be healthy and nutritious. hell no.

I don't want to get into a huge rant here but things like this make me sick. It's people like this that make American's look bad to the rest of the world. It was bad enough when that lady won millions for spilling coffee on herself, or the burglar sued his victim because he injured himself while BREAKING INTO HER HOUSE, but if this guy wins (and/or hell freezes over) I'll loose all faith in the justice system.

I was just thinking the other day how no one wants to take responsibility for themselves and then this came on. You see, I Bartend a bit on the weekends and we have this law in Michigan that says that if a person drinks too much and gets in an
accident the bartender who served them can be held liable. It also applies if the person is bar hopping. If they've been to 3 bars, then come into yours and drink half a beer, you're liable if anything happens because you are the last person who served
them.

I can see the reasoning for this more than most things but it still boils down to the person not having to control themself, or take responsibility. No one is pouring alcohol down their throat.... When I go to a bar I know how much will get me drunk and I also know I have to drive home, so I drink accordingly.

The crazy thing is that is also applies to stores here. If a store sells someone a fifth of something and they drink the whole thing in the parking lot and then get into an accident the store is held responsible.

Anyway, I personally think the guy doesn't expect to win. I think he just wanted to get his face on TV.

Well, so much for not ranting..... :)

Sadly, I think the idiot has a good chance of winning. Remember the smokers who sued the tobacco industry for forcing them to smoke and giving them cancer. That was a huge cash grab for the states and trial lawyers.

There is enough money in the fast food industry for the lawyers to be seeing dollar signs and if they use the same tactics as in the tobacco lawsuit (these people were innocent victims of an evil plot to mislead and kill them) they could win.

The US legal system lately is less concerned with 'justice' as it is with trying to appear compassionate toward the hapless 'victim' and lining their own pockets in the process. Too many decisions are made more with the 'injustice of the current distribution of wealth' in mind and seek to redistribute it in a more 'compassionate' way. The rest of us get screwed in the process.

The trouble with a non-win, no-pay legal system is that it is then open to abuse because the one seeking the claim does not have any fear of loss. Sadly the alternative to this is not being able to seek justice for many people.
The lawyers for Mc D's will have to defend or the floodgates will open, not just for Mc D's but for so many others.

Tobacco was a bit different.

1) Tobacco companies hid the negative effects of the product while fast food companies openly disclose nutritional information.

2) Nicotine is addictive so with negative effects withheld the people became addicted. I don't see the same arguement being made well in this case. ("You don't understand judge, I was having Big Mac Attacks every night!" )

I hope the fast food companies counter-sue for court costs. That would teach people not to file frivolous BS.

People like Caesar Barber make me sick. He needs to be beaten with his shoes for even considered filing this law suit.

I hope the judge tells him to take his fat a$$ out of the court room.

What a pathetic piece of isht that guy must be. I guess that just shows how America is turning into a society that can't take responsibility for their own actions.
