We are looking to add additional fraud protection in with our merchant account, we have the options of MaxMind and Varilogix Fraud call. Any comments or recommendations about either?

I used to use MaxMind, it worked, at DS we use Varilogix, and it works well.

Either option should work fine for you and give you an advantage in your efforts to scrub out fraud. You may also want to contact your merchant provider to see if they can help you optimize your anti-fraud settings or even see if another gateway option would provide additional protection to you.

One other thing you may want to look into is Verified by Visa/MasterCard SecureCode as a means of further protecting yourself against 60% of the most common chargeback reason codes.

Protection is provided even when the cardholder is NOT enrolled for most Visa cards and MasterCard is also heading in the same direction. There are limitations, of course, but it is certainly a service well worth considering especially if you can get it at little or no cost from your merchant provider.

Our gateway and merchant provider is WorldPay Invisible, so unfortunately I do not believe the Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode are available.

I think we'll give MaxMind a go first, and see how it goes.

MAxMind is a great solution for protection against Card Fraud.

I'm assuming you have WHMCS and I would recommend using Maxmind since its free. I would also add the voice call feature.

Yep, we do plan on using this with WHMCS. Taking a look at the MaxMind website I can't find any details regarding the call feature, and thats definitely something we would be interested in using.

Both of them work just fine. Varilogix has more to offer and better API.

Maxmind charges 20 cents for all calls in the U.S. area and I want to say 30 cents for places such as Europe. I think the price structure I gave is correct but i'm not 100% sure we just pay what were billed for (hahaha)
