Hi,

I would like to know how is this possible to do:
1. I have a reseller acount that is my main server with WHM
2. I have an unlimited account hosting account that only support addon domains.

I would like to produce a backup on the reseller account for each domain thru the cpanel and copy this backup account to the server that I have created the addon domain and restore it there and in case that the other server goes down I will be able to just change the dns for the domain to work when the propagation is finished. Is this possible?

I understand that I can easylly do that having just another reseller account but I don't want to pay for another reseller account the will be more expensive just to have a backup copy.

setup a cron from the reseller side to do a backup nightly and send the backup to the ftp address to your unlimited account

A simple solution to this would to be use rsync and a cron job.

I would suggest rsync or LFTP

if you just rsync all your data and configs then it would be pretty simple to bring the sites up on the other server.

One advantage of rsync is that only the changed parts of files are transferred, saving tons of bandwidth and time if you are doing daily backups or whatnot.

In the root WHM, I do not think resellers have access to the backup functions for automated backups.

Yes, there is no option for resellers to automate backup from their reseller WHM.

So, there's no option as a reseller to backup a client from the cpanel interface?

Regarding the cPanel interface, you can create backups but at this time you must manually do it for each account by switching to their account in the cPanel interface and downloading the backups.

Note, since you only have reseller access don't use the option for a full site backup as only a root-level user can restore those backups. Instead use the other 3 forms of backups provided via the interface.
