View Full Version : Combine all IM (instant msg svc's) into one FREE
SiteTutor 07-25-2002, 07:17 PM Trillian
The lack of an instant-messaging standard can get frustrating when you
have friends that use different services. With this free application
you can keep in contact with your friends whether they use IRC, AOL,
ICQ, MSN, or Yahoo. The program retains features from each service, so
you can search for buddies, set your status as available or
unavailable, change your passwords, and so on, without having to leave
the program. You can also change its look by downloading (or creating
your own) skins.

edude 07-25-2002, 09:08 PM Carlos beat me to it :bawling:
Yep especially for companies who want to offer tech support via im..
JSpired 07-25-2002, 09:15 PM I love Trillian!
fractiousws 07-25-2002, 09:32 PM Just downloaded it. Awesome!
IGobyTerry 07-25-2002, 11:10 PM I used to have Trillain but I couldn't stand it. I didn't like the way it looked, and it was very hard for me to navigate. We have IMSCI at work and it works good. I like it better than Trillain, However you have to buy a license for it.
cedwards 07-26-2002, 01:14 AM I never liked Trillan for some reason. Never coudl figure out why but didnt like it.
mindboggle 07-26-2002, 01:17 AM Hasn't AOL been trying to stop people from accessing AIM via Trillian? (typical AOL)
ckpeter 07-26-2002, 01:19 AM I use trillian myself, and I think it is great the way it integrates all the IM networks (although it can still use improvement).
For those of you who don't like the default look, you can download a theme/skin to replace the look. I hated the default look, so I downloaded one of the XP skin, and I love it.

Samuel 07-26-2002, 01:21 AM Peter, can you get the XP theme at the author's web site?
Samuel 07-26-2002, 01:23 AM Got it, man I missed the skin area when I downloaded this program, and it truly does integrate everything... loving it.
ckpeter 07-26-2002, 01:24 AM I got the theme by browsing the theme database on the developer's site.
I just looked up the link for you:
http://communities.msn.com/WindowsXPTrillianSkin/
I like it because its simple and matches the XP theme.

Jim_UK 07-26-2002, 02:30 AM Yeah Trillians great as you can keep all your IM proggies together. Also (and I plan to test this soon) I think you can run multiple instances of Trillian itself meaning if you have 2 ICQ accounts (one for personal, one for business), you can be connected to both at the same time :)

Oh, I thought you could login into two accounts from the same instance of the program. :(

Its possible that you can... even though I've been using for months I don't honestly know as I've not tested that yet :) I've now found myself with two ICQ accounts that I need to be connected to as much as possible so I'll be trying it all out soon :)
ckpeter 07-26-2002, 03:11 AM The problem with logging in two accounts in the same instance of trillian is that the contact list would be shared; not very good at seperating business and personal contacts. This means all your contacts on each account will be added to all accounts.
Peter
skylab 07-26-2002, 03:45 AM yeah, they'll hopefully be fixing that in the future version coming in a month or so.
the best skins in my opinion are MICROSCOPIC or MBG. definitely the slickest. however, it's only a matter of time before trillian gets so popular that all the cheesy britney spears skins start appearing.
