View Full Version : 100 new clients, 2 weeks, limited budget?
night-coder 08-19-2007, 05:43 AM I wanted to find out from everyone. What tips would you give if you were challenged to sign up 100 new hosting clients in two weeks on a limited budget.
Could you do this?
How would you do this?
How many people (eyeballs) do you think needs to see your offer for you to generate the 100?
What forms of advertising do you think would work best?
How would you entice clients to host with your comapany?
Thanks Everyone.
barry[CoffeeSprout] 08-19-2007, 07:23 AM I wonder if it can be done, maybe have some kind of random drawing (iPods always do nicely)
Good luck, I'll watch this thread

Go to every local business within a few towns away from you and try and win them, the internet won't turn up that many signups.
keywolf 08-19-2007, 08:51 AM FREEBIES :D Ipods yes

YES :D
I think freebies (or a chance to win freebies) + advertising is a good way to go.
Adam H 08-19-2007, 09:03 AM Could be quite easy, unless you want to make a profit :P
You would need to find a very niche market to get 100 signups.
MrZodiac 08-19-2007, 09:08 AM I like the Ipod giveaway deal. Seems like a possiblity.
Dan_EZPZ 08-19-2007, 09:14 AM To be honest, I'm doing an iPod giveaway right now and its nowhere near as popular as I thought it would be.
FTN BLZZRD 08-19-2007, 09:24 AM You would have to set your prices dirt cheap. Make sure you emphasize this as a promotion, or else people will think you are selling your hosting at a too low of a price to be credible.
ScottJ 08-19-2007, 09:58 AM Getting new clients is easy if you have a good budget, but in your case your options are very limited and very saturated with thousands of other hosts trying to do the same thing.
Wullie 08-19-2007, 10:40 AM Go to every local business within a few towns away from you and try and win them, the internet won't turn up that many signups.
Definitely the best way to go and you would be able to attract a much better price for the hosting as well.

Ipod giveaways worked when they were just released, but by now the vast majority of people who want an Ipod will have one already. There are also many companies offering free Ipods to each signup, so a competition to "potentially" win an Ipod doesn't sound too appealing when compared with that.
Get something that is in demand and advertise that, you will get a much better response.

I agree with your point about people already having one but I dont find many shared hosting companies giving one away with signups.. Dedi suppiers maybe but not shared.

There are shared hosting packages that are coming with free Ipods, just search Google and you can find them. For example, GIobat had an offer on in February for a free Ipod for every signup and there is also http://www.ukdomains.com/free_ipod_shuffle.html (Although now expired)
redcell1 08-20-2007, 06:00 PM I got this scheme buy my current provider that every customer who has a concurrent subscription is entered into a monthly drawing for $100 worth of video games/hardware/etc.
here is the example

HW-David 08-20-2007, 09:13 PM I've never really trusted anyone giving away an iPod. If you were completely honest, and said that one of the first 100 customers will get cash though, that sounds nicer... to me anyways.
andygen 08-21-2007, 04:53 AM For what I know is giving out the high pay affiliate will motivate people to promote it:D

Right, perhaps I should have said that instead.
Every moment seems to have it's hot products (like Wii's a while ago)
Capitalize on that
ubersmith_boo 08-21-2007, 11:08 AM Do you have any sort of client base currently?
If it's of any decent size, i'd say offer them the freebie for referring people to you. Let them do some of the work for you.
ResellerPlanet 08-21-2007, 03:00 PM I never really trusted people giving away iPod's either.
I would give away free USB sticks to the 100 first customers, or maybe even small MP3 players if you have more budget. USB sticks of 1GB aren't that expensive anymore, especially if you buy a 100-pack.
coloheart 08-22-2007, 07:06 PM 100 new clients in 2 weeks with limited budget is always challenging
mrzippy 08-22-2007, 09:16 PM I think if you go "door to door" and visit every business in your local area you could get 100 customers in 2 weeks. You would need to spend ALL your time actually talking to people, however.

That's probably the best advice based on the OP's limited budget. But even that is not likely to give him 100 customers in just two weeks.
They would have to spend every waking moment selling and traveling and would need to have a great closing rate.
scapeish 08-23-2007, 03:43 PM Try a free hosting chance giveaway; after you sign up, you have a 1 in 10 chance of receiving a 200% refund , a 1 in 5 chance of a 100% refund, and a 1 in 3 chance of a free month or upgrade. And advertise with the use of FREE frequently.
serenity81 08-25-2007, 03:45 AM If the challenge was for ten sign ups it would be more reasonable. But 100 for no or low budget, forget it.
