View Full Version : Looking For A Job At Anything
AntiSpamHosts 07-25-2002, 03:20 PM Well, I am a 14 year old male from California looking for some work. I am very knowledgable about technology, soft and hardware. The reason I am looking for something to do is because I am looking to start a hosting company. I need to pull in at least $200 a month to pay for bills, and am only getting around $100. I am good with HTML, design, and much more. Please reply if you have any questions.
Synthetic 07-25-2002, 05:37 PM I do have one question; could you please provide some samples of your work, maybe the URL to your portfolio, if you've got one?
AntiSpamHosts 07-25-2002, 05:40 PM Well, Currently I don't have one. I am working on a webpage now, however, so when I am finished I will post the link.
Synthetic 07-25-2002, 05:43 PM Please do so. It becomes a hard decision to hire someone without an established portfolio, or any samples of their work. It will require many of us to use our imagination.
I look forward to seeing your work... :)
AntiSpamHosts 07-25-2002, 06:26 PM Well I can do more than webdesign, I am knowledgable about many other technological things.
Shyne 07-25-2002, 06:28 PM Have you thought of going in the drug business?
AntiSpamHosts 07-25-2002, 06:39 PM I have. The long hair I have would make a plus, but after consideration, I decided it wasnt for me.
webhappy 07-25-2002, 06:53 PM Hey, me too, but I'm 16!
:P
divinetruth 07-25-2002, 06:54 PM What other work would you do? You said your "knowledgable about other technological things" , what else can you do?
Programming ? Be a little more specific.
AntiSpamHosts 07-25-2002, 07:03 PM I have some knowledge about PHP and CGI. I am a very fast learner, so if you needed a different language, I could get it down in a few days (I do alot of proramming and have a few friends that are great at it and have lots of help books). So, I can program basically anything, but I am fairly good at PHP and CGI.
I also could help if, say, you needed a technical support person for your webhosting company, or something of the sort.
barrywien 07-25-2002, 07:07 PM Do you have any past experience with CPanel, WHM, Ensim or any other control panel software?
AntiSpamHosts 07-25-2002, 07:25 PM I have experience with Enism (not much, but I know my way) and Plesk (rather well).
derek.bodner 07-25-2002, 08:55 PM Ah, the eternal Catch-22. Unfortunately, a lot of places in this world knowledge isn't enough, you need proof of knowledge and experience. Most company's will shy away from you if you don't have experience, and you can't get experience if company's shy away from you. It's one of the great things to experience while "growing up" in the real world :)
*edit* Seem to be having a rough day with minor glitches in practically everything I do ;)
AntiSpamHosts 07-25-2002, 09:04 PM dbodner, You got it exactly right. I need to make money to spend money to make even more money.

Drug businesses (legal and illicit) make the web hosting industry look like a one of those machines that sell gum balls for 5 cents.
AntiSpamHosts 07-26-2002, 12:39 PM Although the drug business is intruiging, I don't think its for me.

My eWriters 11-20-2002, 02:25 PM Wow, 14 years old? My last post was correct, you're not 18. And I'm letting an adolescent walk all over me?
