Hi!

I've just read somewhere that it is difficult/cumbersome to transfer .CA domains from one registrar to another.

Is it true?

Also what are the Caveats?

Regards,

Yes, it is both difficult and cumbersome.

It depends on your registrar, however. Technically, it is possible to transfer a .ca domain name.. however most registrars do not know what is the proper process.

There is also some actual paperwork involved in order to modify the registrant name. You can modify everything else electronically, but the registrant name requires faxing in papers and paying a fee directly to CIRA.

Very true. I find most problems related to .CA transfers are stemming from ignorant registrars, so make sure you find a good one.

Yes, it's more complicated than transferring say a .COM, but the truth is, it's not *that* difficult. Just did one last week, smoothly.
