I really want my own server... I'll probably use it for my personal sites, and my graphics design one... But I was wondering, which server should I get? I was thinking about a Sun Cobalt RaQ 550... Later I want to go into hosting, but I'll worry about that later..
would the 550 be good to get? How much bandwidth does it give? I can't find it anywhere XD
thanx in advance!!!

First you'll have to decide if you want to rent the server or if you want to buy and colocate it.
If you want to rent one, I am pretty sure, a raq4 will do. If you want to buy the server that all depends on how much you want to spend for it. The 550 is certainly worth the cost, in comparision the raq4 is too expensive.

well I was gonna save up my money and buy one, i don't think I could handle renting one, in the long rin it might cost more than buying one... So I should go with the 550?
I would still like to know how much bandwidth it has...
The first time i heard of a server was when i got shooting-star.net :eek: ^^;;;

What do you mean by this?
Do you mean how much it can handle ? That question is always hard to answer. My guess is you will never reach the physical limit of what the server can handle by "normal usage".

The server itself doesn't have bandwidth (????)
Normally when referring to bandwidth you'd be best off looking at what a co-location company could give you.

consider ebay.com or pricewatch.com if you are going to buy one just to learn, or just use an old computer and install some flava of Linux
