View Full Version : cpanel or h-sphere
zdwebhosting 07-25-2002, 03:36 AM ok i plan to launch a reseller division of my site and i am going to get a dedicated server for it.
what would you as resellers be more interested in cpanel or hsphere?
please explain why or why not you chose which and if it really matters to you.
thanks and hope to get some good responces.
fractiousws 07-25-2002, 05:25 AM CPanel for sure. Nothing beats it IMO.
fractiousws 07-25-2002, 05:26 AM Hey what do ya know. 1000 posts :D
Fiber 07-25-2002, 05:47 AM I would have to say CPanel, because it is very good. Nothing beats it, and it is a quality product.
MikeMc 07-25-2002, 07:11 AM Actually CPanel and HSphere have different orientations. So it seems incorrect to compare them directly. There are many threads about them in WHT. If you make a search you'll understand the main differences and specially the fact that HSphere and CPanel target different (my opinion) type of customers.
zdwebhosting 07-25-2002, 01:25 PM ok well i know what the pricing is on hsphere but who is the cheapest/best person to buy it from around here?
Everyday 07-25-2002, 05:31 PM Most will sell you the licenses between $3.50 and $4.50 depending on how many you get. Then you just need to figure the price of the server. That really depends on what you want and what type of support you want for the equipment.
I would say maybe $175 to $250 for a reliable server capable of handling 400 sites.

i'm sorry i was'nt clear i was saying i know how much hsphere is i need to know the cheapest/best person around here to get cpanel from not hsphere since looks like cpanel is more popular
Everyday 07-25-2002, 06:14 PM Oh! Sorry :D I couldn't tell you since we don't use cpanel. Tried it, didn't like it. Not enough features.
ckpeter 07-25-2002, 06:17 PM I know both Daniel from effectonline and Robin from myvirtualnet sells cpanel license (probably at a good price, but I have never inquired). You can expect to pay $50-$70 a month for a license. (Although you maybe able to find cheaper one).
Put in a request in the Related Offer and Request forum, and you should get some answers (probably privately).

zdwebhosting 07-25-2002, 06:29 PM ok sweet and Everyday could you be more elaborate on the cpanel does'nt have enough features? i mean whats hsphere have that cpanel does'nt etc... thanks :)
ckpeter 07-25-2002, 06:30 PM H-sphere is geared toward multi-server configuration and high automation, while cpanel is good for single server operation. You should make your pick based on your configuration.
Peter
zdwebhosting 07-25-2002, 06:32 PM then cpanel will do great :) as i dont do any advertising so i dont grow at a very rapid rate so i dont have to worry about that :D
lukenet 07-25-2002, 06:55 PM I like Plesk.. A lot..
Have you had a look at it??
Lukenet
zdwebhosting 07-25-2002, 06:58 PM yes lukenet for zdwebhosting.com a server I run @ webreseller I use plesk and like it alot although i just dont think I would sell many of those reseller accounts if I were to use plesk though :(
Everyday 07-25-2002, 07:09 PM You can use H Sphere as a single server. We don't personally but some of our customers do.
EasySite 07-25-2002, 07:20 PM Here is another discussion about Hsphere
