Ircd's are somewhat based around foonet atm, nothing wrong with that, just wondering who else still feels like hosting the original form of chat ? Never had a problem with attacks that we couldn't solve ourselves.... Generally its some idiot doing a join flood, and we just add him to the master firewall list, and in 30 seconds he's taken care of.... If he is still to much of a problem, we just call their ISP and explain the situation... If the network is run right you won't have problems, and its very enjoyable... acidHL 07-25-2002, 07:12 AM im a server co-admin for in a network, and have previously run my own... Iv'e never had any problem bar kids who think they can packet us with a 56k modem (no joke). WildWayz 07-25-2002, 08:32 AM I wanted to run IRC bots (no warez or war bots) and bouncer shells for IRC (like vanity hosts) but could never find a webhost that allows it. Anyone know of any? Bots bad, because people like to dos em. I can remember the one i used to use but they were pretty good. the FDC would be a good idea to. There you can get cheap dedicated servers for i think it was like 80 doolars or 70 dollars a month or something. (someone can correct me on this) but thats probly your best option. IRCds get to many attacks so most places dont do it anymore. |
