View Full Version : NameCheap -- Should I buy from and transfer my domains to them?
jmFightSpam 08-10-2007, 12:02 PM Hello,
I am about to purchase one or two domains. Right now I have three domains parked at GoDaddy.com. I have been hearing about NameCheap and how much more user friendly it is, etc.
Just wanted to get opinion. Is it (1) Worth buying my new domain names from NameCheap over GoDaddy or any other? (2) Worth transferring my current GoDaddy registered domains to NameCheap?
Thanks.
If you are satisfied with the service at GoDaddy, why change?
jmFightSpam 08-10-2007, 06:39 PM Well, if NameCheap truly is easier, more efficient and generally more cost effective, that could be worth a change. I do agree Go Daddy does offer a bunch of services and things can be a bit convoluted. But I have had no problems with them yet.
I have domains with both companies, but prefer namecheap.com. Their user interface is easier on the eyes, but it all comes down to personal opinion.
barry[CoffeeSprout] 08-10-2007, 07:59 PM I have been using namecheap for more than 3 years and I'm happy with them

Dougy 08-10-2007, 08:05 PM I like namecheap. Nice, straight, easy and to the point.

Sounds like a reasonably sensible suggestion to me. :)
Can someone enlighten me with how their service is?
I assume they are an ICANN registrar but ever since the registerfly fiasco I'm always weary.
I would love to hear peoples opinions of them preferably over a long period of time. In addition, how are they with support, do they respond quickly? Do they have a telephone number?
jmFightSpam 08-13-2007, 09:30 PM Thanks everyone for their replies. I have decided to stay with GoDaddy because I had a really good coupon code. So in the end, it came down to $$$ ;-)
Right Hosting 08-13-2007, 11:38 PM I have never used Namecheap but plan to soon as they seem quite popular.. Godaddy have some good deals especially with bulk and the coupons they offer can save you a bit plus it's easy to push domains.. The only issue I have with them is their interface is a bit cluuterd when ordering with all the services they try to push with your order but once you get used to it is is not so bad.
John_Walsh 08-14-2007, 07:33 AM Hi,
I think your decision should be influnced by your our satisfaction and comfort lavel attained with the services provider.

It seems like namecheap.com supports via email and ticket system.
I switched from godaddy to namecheap a number of years ago because I found godaddy's interface annoying. In contrast, namecheap's is straightforward and easy to use.
However, I've started to wonder if I couldn't find a registrar with an excellent interface that charged less than the 8.88/yr that namecheap does.

MiniMaxi 08-14-2007, 09:37 PM NameCheap is better and more userfriendly then GoDaddy. I have changed for DanNames.com as they have same interface as NameCheap but are just cheaper then NameCheap.
c4gamerz 08-15-2007, 10:20 AM i have bought a delux panel domain on godaddy worth 30$ per domain. As they said in deluxe panel name servers would be updated just in a hour. But when i tried to change nameserevrs it took more than 24 hours :(
Bannaz 08-15-2007, 03:45 PM Namecheap have never let me down.

Really the same? Just FYI - NameCheap's panel is unique, a tailor made specially for them.

FYI - DNS changes to com/net are almost instant with any registrars nowadays. What you were experiencing was most probably caused by your ISP, caching results of DNS queries.
