Hi all,
Basically what im wondering is, can anyone provide information on the following:
I want to offer domain registration through my site for example, but I want the client who is buying the domain to buy it through the site and pay the domain provider directly and then have say a control panel where they can do changes.
Basically so that it is independant of me but I can offer it through my site...
Can anyone recommend any good providers, and also who to avoid etc?
Thanks very much,
Matt

Hi
I think you would like to be an "affiliate" rather than a reseller?
This requires just a link on your site - to some registrar that'll give you $1 mimimun for each sign up. This is much easier than becomeing a reseller but less profitable.

Doster's Instant Reseller (http://ir.dotster.com/home/index.php) program may be just what you're looking for then.

It sounds like Enom's Registry Rocket may fit what you're looking for..if I've read your message correctly.

Exactly what I was thinking, too. You can see an example of the RegistryRocket feature by going here: http://domainsmarty.com/
You can get your own registryrocket system by signing up as an eNom reseller (there's lots in the forums here), and then creating the registryrocket link. eNom has a set of online forms that will guide you through the process of setting your prices and configuring the system. It's very easy.
The credit card stuff is all handled by eNom, and you get to keep the difference between YOUR price (the price you're charged by the enom reseller) and the price you advertise. (Minus a small transaction fee/discount for the credit card usage.)
It works great and would satisfy your needs.
Cheers!

If you REALLY wanted to get fancy, you could set up a PDQ site. This is also available to you if you have an eNom reseller account.
For an example of a PDQ site, go here: http://www.registerPDQ.com
Basically, this is a full-on ecommerce site. It's plug-and-play. But there is a $99/year license fee for this.
The registryrocket is free.

How much is the base price for domains (the price they charge you) from eNom? On their site they list more then $20, but I assume resellers have to pay less?

GUys thanks so much for all the response, its been very useful...Just one thing though, enom's Rocket is looking like a good solution to me, but they cannot offer uk domains such as .co.uk. Is there any solution that includes .co.uk domains and maybe also .ca domains which I could use separately or even use them completely if they look as good?
Thanks again, Matt

enom have announced that they will be adding .co.uk and .ca domain name registrations to their list of services, and I would imagine that this would be offered via both their registryrocket and their PDQ system as well.
This is what it says on their site"
» New TLDs coming soon - (Posted: June 11th 2002)
eNom will soon bring you a large list of additional TLDs including CO.UK, .CA, .DE and .JP. Stay posted for their release.

Depending on the reseller, you can get domains anywhere from $7.20 (with a small setup fee) to $9.99 (usually with no setup fee).
Do a search for enom resellers, or maybe post a thread asking for responses. There's lots of enom resellers in the forums.
Cheers!
