Hey all,
If you follow this board you probably have noticed that I am looking for a web host.

As of now i'm looking at two providers.
OTSH - Onthespothosting.com and Scala Hosting - scalahosting.com

They both provide SIMILAR packages.
Heres the problem though..

OTSH has reviews which were not harder then a google search to find.. However these reviews werent very extensive so I don't know what is good about them.
Their support hasn't been the greatest yet, its been 24 hours since I contacted Jon & their Sales department, all I have gotten was an auto-response. The live chat is empty (been in queue for an hour now..)

Scala Hosting doesn't have any reviews here (?). I can't seem to find one. Their support seems good though, fast responses. They seem to be flexible as far as plans go and negotiating to what the customer needs.

Ultimately it will be decided by fast responses and good server condition. I wont be needing script help or anything like that (I know very well what I am doing)
All my clients will be local to me, so reliability and uptime is key. I don't want customers calling me while im in a lecture or whatever.

Still open to other competitors, this is what i'm looking for.
10 GB Space
150 GB Bandwith transfer per month
Unlimited MYSQL, POP3, etc.
Fantastico
RVSkin (optional)
Clientexec
Private Name Servers
Overselling enabled
Cpanel/WHM
Paying Quarterly or Semi-anually
Free Trial
$10/month or less

Scalahosting: private whois, no address on their site. All that appear is that their name is "Scala Hosting Ltd." So they probably are UK based. If so, I believe there is some regulation that makes it necessary for them to provide their address on their site.

IMO, it's strange to do business with a company that tries so much to be anonymous.

I just signed up for an account with them. Their tech support is awesome as of yet. He said that the servers are located at Soft Layer or Soft something.

Good luck with your new provider then. Do let us know how things go in the long run.

He said that the servers are located at Soft Layer or Soft something. That doesn't change the fact that there is no immediate way for a customer to find what their physical location is. :)

I'm with Dan on this one. What website are you hosting over there if you don't mind sharing?

Do some searching in the forums here. There are several very reliable providers that can easily handle your needs that have a proven and easily documented track record.

Be sure to check out the offers section as well.
